Insurgence, the indie powerhouse redefining horror, unleashes SCISSORS
Sharpen those blades, kids—horror honcho James Cullen Bressack is back in the game. This time he’s sliding into the role of executive producer on SCISSORS, a gleefully grisly murder mystery co-directed by B.J. Hendricks and Rob Mulligan. Oh, and did we mention Academy Award nominee Eric Roberts is starring? Yeah, it’s that kind of party.
The indie dream team behind the carnage reads like a who’s-who of genre hustlers: Insurgence (yes, the YouTube juggernaut with a billion-plus streams), Sandaled Kid Productions, Robotic Donut, and Capacity Productions. They’ve all joined forces to make sure this slasher flick cuts deep.
So what’s on the chopping block? Men in the LGBTQ+ community, hunted by a masked psycho known only as “Scissors.” He’s trolling hookup apps, lurking around glory holes, and leaving a trail of mutilation and mayhem. Think Grindr meets Seven.

Roberts plays Mayor Anderson, a buttoned-up conservative who weaponizes fear like it’s campaign confetti. Hendricks pulls double duty as Detective Reynolds, while Mulligan gets down and dirty as Detective Carter. Together, they’re trying to stop the body count before it reaches Saw-level chaos.
But wait—it gets wilder. Cult goth-rap legend Kung Fu Vampire makes his feature debut as Dr. Wallace, the snarky medical examiner. He’s also dropping tracks from his Black Heart Machine album into the soundtrack, so expect your veins to vibrate while heads roll.
Behind the gore: screenplay by Newt Wallen, Hendricks, Mulligan, and Robbie Lopez; cinematography by Alex Raaen; editing by Theoderic Ripper (yes, that’s his real name); and special effects wizardry by Eric Fox of Face Off fame.

Bressack summed it up best: “It was truly meaningful to support them on this creative endeavor, and they delivered an outstanding work.” Translation: expect buckets of blood and indie horror cred.
