How do the NFL power rankings look going into week 3? Highest rankings
Week two is now in the books for the NFL and it was a doozy. There were plenty of crazy stories, but injuries ruled the headlines. Plenty of teams lost some of their best weapons on both the offense & defense, leaving teams in bad positions.
After week two, we are starting to get a better look at which teams are the best, which teams are the worst, and which teams are either a surprise or a disappointment. Here are the teams in the highest part of the power rankings thus far.
1. Baltimore Ravens (2-0)
The Ravens are the most complete team in the NFL. They have a great offense, led by last season’s MVP Quarterback Lamar Jackson, and a tremendous defense. In their first two games, the Ravens blew out both the Cleveland Browns and the Houston Texans, two decent competitors. Their opponents don’t have an answer so far for stopping their offense or getting past their defense. The Ravens look dangerous.
2. Kansas City Chiefs (2-0)
The Super Bowl champions had a close game with the Los Angeles Chargers that ended in overtime with a field goal. Still, QB Patrick Mahomes continues to prove that he deserved that crazy amount of money given to him in the offseason. Their defense is looking better from last season, and with the addition of rookie running back (RB) Clyde Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs now also have a good running game.
3. Seattle Seahawks (2-0)
If the season ended right now, QB Russell Wilson would be the MVP. He has been sensational to start the season with nine touchdowns and only eleven incompletions. The Seahawks offense is firing on all cylinders with wide receivers DK Metcalf & Tyler Lockett stepping up. The defense has been spotty, but they made a goal line stand to beat the New England Patriots.
4. Green Bay Packers (2-0)
The Green Bay Packers may regret not giving Aaron Rodgers more weapons on offense because Rodgers looks like a completely new man. RB Aaron Jones is also looking great. The Packers offense has already scored more than 40 points in both of their first two games. The defense also looks hot, making the Packers a fierce team to face right now.
5. Los Angeles Rams (2-0)
The Rams look to be having a comeback season after missing the playoffs last season. QB Jared Goff and the Rams look good so far as well as the defense, with defensive tackle (DT) Aaron Donald wrecking opposing offensive lines. Defeating the Dallas Cowboys was a good first win and they blew out the Philadelphia Eagles in week two. The Rams’ success makes the NFC West even more competitive.
6. Buffalo Bills (2-0)
Yes, the Bills played two poor opponents, the Miami Dolphins & the New York Jets their first two weeks, but the Bills still look really strong. Josh Allen is proving to be one of the better young QB’s in the league and he is having a strong connection with new acquisition wide receiver (WR) Stefon Diggs. The defense looks just as strong as last year. Head coach Sean McDermott is turning this franchise around.
7. Arizona Cardinals (2-0)
There were questions about how good the Cardinals would be this season, but they are officially big-time competitors. QB Kyler Murray looks even better than he did last season and this could be due to the addition of WR DeAndre Hopkins, one of the best receivers in the NFL.
The defense stopped both the San Francisco 49ers offense as well as the Washington Football Team. The Cardinals look like they will be able to compete against the incredibly strong NFC West division.
8. New England Patriots (1-1)
The Cam Newton experiment appears to be working so far. Newton looks like he did in his prime and is having a great comeback campaign. He doesn’t have a lot of weapons on offense, which could be problematic down the line. However, the Patriots defense can make up for the lack of offensive weapons with Stephon Gilmore keeping opposing receivers inline. Never, ever count the Patriots out with Bill Belichick as the head coach.
9. Pittsburgh Steelers (2-0)
The Steelers defense is phenomenal, but no one questioned that as their defense carried them all of last season. The big story this season is getting QB Ben Roethlisberger back after he was sidelined with an injury. WR’s Juju Smith-Schuster and Diontae Washington already are benefitting from having Big Ben back. Big Ben doesn’t look perfect yet, but he should keep getting back to normal as the season progresses.
10. New Orleans Saints (1-1)
The Saints suffered a big loss to the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday Night Football, but Saints fans shouldn’t panic. The Saints showed in week one against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers that they have a great defense, lots of offensive weapons, and are well-coached by Sean Payton. The Raiders loss is a major setback, but getting WR Michael Thomas back should help QB Drew Brees get back on track.

We’ll see if these teams can keep it up for the rest of the season. So far, these are the teams that look like the best in all of the NFL.
