Did we just find real UFOs in the background of a Netflix doc?
Netflix’s docuseries Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything takes viewers on a look through science and how it shapes our modern world. The fifth episode on clouds explores meteorological discoveries, plus connects what we know about the clouds in the sky and how it relates to the internet cloud.
What the makers of the documentary didn’t realize is that they may have given their viewers more phenomena than they thought. It’s a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it situation, but as the show’s host ascends in a plane, it looks like he’s whizzing past a UFO.
But is it really a UFO? Let’s take a look at whether extraterrestrials made a cameo in a Netflix science documentary.

Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything
The premise of the show has less to do with science conjecture and more to do with developing technology right now. Narrated by science journalist Latif Nasser, Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything aims to explore how we’re all connected in ways we can’t imagine.
The fifth episode, “Clouds,” takes a look at new meteorology tech and relates it to the internet cloud we share & store data on. Near the end of the episode, Nasser & his crew take off from San Angelo Airport to witness cloud scattering. This is when the UFO comes into view.

Could it be a plane?
Let’s get the obvious out of the way first. Since the tiny plane on Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything took off from an airport, is it possible that the camera just picked up a jumbo jet in the distance?
From the docuseries, it looks like a blurry disc in the distance. On the other hand, the absence of a plane tail or wings is something to think about. The long, cylindrical shape looks more like a blurry commercial plane to us than a flying saucer.
Despite the simple explanation, conspiracy theorists remain convinced that Netflix showed the world a UFO in one of their documentaries.

The Hidden Underbelly 2.0
A UFO channel uploaded the clip on September 5. The narrator slowed down the original clip so viewers could examine the footage for themselves. “Guys, this doesn’t look like no bird to me. This doesn’t look like another plane. This kind of looks like a flying saucer,” Hidden Underbelly narrated.
The YouTube channel, which posts footage of UFOs, has over 46,000 subscribers. The clip from Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything garnered over 4,000 views so far. Comments were lively, with a lot of trolling & religious messages. They generally supported the claim that this was a UFO.
There were a few skeptics. Mainly, it was floated by a commenter that due to the velocity & speed of the craft, it was most likely a commercial airplane. Others speculated it was a drone.

Has The Hidden Science of Everything weighed in?
So far, we can’t find a comment from Netflix or Latif Nasser on whether there was a UFO in their footage. However, a forum poster floated the idea that the UFO leak could be an “easter egg” to promote the show. It’s possible, but not confirmed.
However, given that everyone is wondering about the split-second UFO sighting, there could be more UFO enthusiasts tuning into Connected: The Hidden Science of Everything to catch a glimpse. You can find it in Episode 5, “Clouds,” after the 43-minute mark.
