Sacramento is the capital of California and it is also the largest city in Sacramento County. Sacramento is a place where you can experience everything from history to adventurous sports. Old Sacramento

If you are a person who loves to know about the past of a place, then Old Sacramento is best for you. Here you can go back to the time of the Gold Rush. The architecture of Old Sacramento is worth paying a visit to. The place has a total of eight blocks covered with historic buildings. Some of the buildings like Eagle Theatre which was built in 1849, the Big Four Building are now a part of the Old Sacramento State Historic Park. The buildings here represent the old commercial district. 

Local shop owners, vendors, museums, restaurants, and hotels are built in the historical buildings here which make this place even more attractive. Some of the exciting activities that you can undertake include riverboat excursion, railroad ride, and ride on a horse-drawn carriage. 

California Automobile Museum

As its name, the museum has an exclusive collection of vintage cars which are more than 120 in number and date back to years between 1885 and 2011. The representation of these vehicles shows the evolution of the automobile in America over the past years. Moreover, the museum has a wide-ranging collection of Ford cars, whose models date back to 1940 to 1969. Regular events like Drive-In Movie Nights are organized and visitors can take part in such events. Other attractions include themes such as pickup trucks, camping vans, and California Car Culture. 

Sacramento Zoo

Are you an animal lover? Then don’t forget to visit Sacramento Zoo. The zoo is spread over an area of 28-acres. It is home to more than 500 different species of animals and 200 reptiles from different corners of the world. On top of it, it is a shelter to more than 35 species of birds who take abode in the 14 distinct aviaries of the zoo. You can visit this place with your family. 

Fairytale Town

If you visit Sacramento with your family, then this is an ideal place for you. The town has recreational activities. It is a story-themed based town, the stories are from fairy tales such as Humpty Dumpty, Thumbelina, Cinderella, Mother Goose, and Peter rabbit. The park also constitutes farm animals such as Eeyore the miniature Scillian Donkey. Other attractions include puppet shows, learning gardens, collections of “magic story boxes”, telling stories with the help of songs and narrations, and music performances. 

State Capitol

In the list of the places you want to visit in Sacramento, add the State Capitol. It is one of the most beautiful places. Sacramento local movers also suggest this place to people who relocate here. It was built in the 1860s and is a carrier of Neoclassical Architecture. Several rooms here include artworks, portraits, and other antiques. The palm trees, gardens, and various other trees make this place even more attractive. 

American River Bike Trail

The trail is also known as the Jedidah Smith memorial trail. This is in honor of the first American explorer to California. This is one of the most famous trails in Sacramento. It starts from the city of Folsom and ends in Old Sacramento. You can access the park from Paradise Beach Recreation Area, River Bend Park, Discover Park, and Howe River Access nature preserve. You can do activities like cycling, jogging, horse-riding, walking on the trail. The park allows visitors to conduct other activities like fishing and picnicking. The trail is spread over an area of 32 miles. 

Midtown

Midtown is like a one-stop destination for shopping, sightseeing museums, art galleries, having a fun time with family and friends, and much more. It is located in the Sacramento urban center and is a crowded and bustling place. Various attractions include music and theatre performances, visit the art galleries, comedy shows, and fine-dining experience, and gourmet dining.

A famous event that you must not miss is the Midtown Farmers Market, more than 50 farmers participate in the event. The farmers sell their products that include fruits, vegetables, and food products. The event also includes chef demonstrations every second Saturday of the month. Free receptions are also hosted by art galleries every second Saturday between 6 pm to 9 pm. The most famous tourist attraction in midtown is the Sutter’s Fort State Historic Park. 

California State Indian Museum State Historic Park

To understand and become familiar with the history of the place, you must contact the natives of that place. In the same way, if you want to know the history of California, the best way is by meeting the native Americans, who are the original inhabitants and can provide an in-depth or profound knowledge of the place. For this, you can visit the California State Indian Museum State Historic Park, where you can gain knowledge about the people who stayed in California thousands of years ago and are still living here. 

Three different themes are followed in the museum which are – family, nature, and spirit, and all the work is presented based on these themes. The objects shown here are daily-use objects like fishing and hunting tools, ceremonial objects. Some of the tools are almost 2400 years old. Other works that can help in better understanding the lifestyle of the people are the educational content including photographs.
