Light Therapy Device Maintenance Tips

Light therapy devices have always been one of the best remedies for many people.

Initially, this device was designed to cure people with SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder), depression, and sleeping disorders.

But as the technology got more advanced, researchers found that this therapy can also be used for various other treatments like muscle mass growth, skincare treatment, and many more.

Moreover, light therapies don’t have that many side effects and can be very user-friendly so, if you want your device to stay top-notch and be more effective and durable. Then it’s essential for you to maintain your device!!

According to a few users, their device didn’t last long due to their poor maintenance practice. Therefore, with this article, you’ll be able to know all the ins and outs of how you can maintain your own device.

Know Your Device First Before You Start The Maintenance

You must understand what sort of device or therapy light you are using. If you know all the nuts and bolts of your device, you’ll eventually get the idea of maintaining the device.

For instance, if you are using infra-red light therapy, then it’s evident that you won’t be seeing the light coming out of your device as the infrared is not within the visible range. Therefore, assuming it to be broken will be entirely wrong.

That’s why you need to know your device first and then go for maintaining it!!

Keep The Device Turned Off When Not In Use

It’s a very bad practice to keep your device turned on, especially when it’s not in use. Many users tend to keep their devices on even when they are done with their regular sessions.

Never do that!

Electronic devices are meant to be used only when you need them to use. After you are done, keep it switched off.

Moreover, keeping the LED lights switched on even when they are not being used might actually damage the lights.

So, I’ll highly recommend you keep your device turned off after you are done with your therapy session. You can also read the manual guide that comes with the therapy device. Therefore, you’ll not have any doubts regarding it.

Keep The Device Out of Reach From Children.

These devices don’t come cheap, so you definitely would want your device to run long.

If you have children in your home, I’ll highly recommend you keep the device out of its reach. As children can be naughty sometimes, their curiosity towards the device can have a detrimental effect on your device.

The device might fall off from their hand, or worse, it can even fall over them! You neither would want your child to get hurt or your device to get ruined as well.

So, the best way to avoid any mishappenings is to keep your device out of its reach.

Never Clean The LED Lights With Any Sort of Liquid!

One of the mistakes that many previous users made is cleaning their therapy lights with water or even alcohol.

Never do that; cleaning your LED lights with any liquid is a big NO-NO! These lights are delicate and can be very quickly damaged if a sufficient amount of water enters these bulbs.

There are chances for you to see that some of the bulbs are not working, and that’s fine. It can be infrared bulbs as well.

So, if you see such things where some of your lights are not working correctly, then don’t be worried; just give a call to the customer service, and they’ll provide further procedures. But never let these bulbs come into contact with any sort of liquid.

Yes, there are few things that you can do to keep your bulbs out of dust. You can use a dry blower or even an air duster to remove the dust particles from your LED bulbs.

Clean The Exterior With Clean Water Or Alcohol

This is where you can use liquid to clean your device. You can use alcohol or even a cloth soaked in clean water and wrung. And then, you can take off all the dust from the exterior part of the device.

Although make sure that when you are cleaning the device with water or cleaning alcohol, keep the device unplugged.

As then, there are chances of short-circuit, or even worse; you might get an electric shock.

Never Turn On Or Use The Device When It’s Wet

After you are done cleaning the external device with clean water, ensure that you give the device time to dry. Never rush into turning the device on or using it, as there can be a chance of electrocution.

Use a blower, dryer, or even a dry towel to help the device dry out fast. Or, if you want to avoid all these hassles, you can simply keep the device under the ceiling fan until it completely dries out.

And once it’s completely dry, you are good to use the device.

Is It Wise To Share Your Device With Others?

It’s a common question that comes to mind to many users. Honestly, the answer entirely depends on your personal view. As this is your device, so if you are comfortable with sharing, then you can.

But I’ll recommend that you should not share your device with anyone else if you are using an oral device or even a lip care device.

On the other hand, if you are using the device on your hands, chest, neck, or even your face, then you may share the device with someone else as the only contact the device had was with the surface of the skin.

Still, if you ask me, I would say it really won’t be a good decision to share your device with someone.

That’s because the way you’ll look after the device, the other person might not. And this can even compromise the durability and functioning of your device.

I hope this article will help you know how you can keep your light therapy device maintained!!
