Care to know the net worth of (possibly racist, misogynistic and homophobic) head coach of the Las Vegas Raiders? Join us and learn the latest info!

Will Jon Gruden lose his net worth after racism on ESPN?

What happens when our beloved heroes turn out to not be what we thought they were? No matter what though, no one should escape accountability. Las Vegas Raiders head coach Jon Gruden has been living in the headlines all weekend. If only it were because his Raiders team was off to a good start. Instead, it’s because of Gruden’s emails from back in 2011. The emails contained racist and vulgar language.

Needless to say, the head coach’s job is in jeopardy. Will Mark Davis establish the standard for how a head coach should go about their business? Whether he was currently employed in the NFL at the time or not. The Raiders are playing their Week 5 matchup against the Chicago Bears. Whether they’ll change the head coach following this week’s game remains unclear.

The Las Vegas Raiders head coach is resigning from his position in the midst of backlash over his racist, misogynistic and homophobic comments. Interestingly, folks are curious about the amount of money he’s worth. What is the net worth of Jon Gruden and is he liable to lose it?

Resignation

On Monday night, coach Jon Gruden issued the following statement which was posted on the team’s Twitter page:

“I have resigned as Head Coach of the Las Vegas Raiders. I love the Raiders and do not want to be a distraction. Thank you to all the players, coaches, staff, and fans of Raider Nation. I’m sorry, I never meant to hurt anyone.” The tweet surfaced shortly after Gruden spoke with Raiders owner Mark Davis about the decision. The NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero is calling it “a swift and stunning fall.”

Another reason we’re interested in the networth of Jon Gruden is because he’s one of the highest-paid coaches in the NFL. The coach is coming under fire for his past as an ESPN commentator. Specifically, he had an email exchange with Bruce Allen who’s an executive with the franchise currently known as the Washington Football Team.

“Dumboriss Smith has lips the size of Michelin tires,” he wrote. According to the Wall Street Journal, this invokes a staple of anti-Black imagery. When questioned by the journal, coach Gruden said it was “a horrible way of explaining” how unhinged he was about the labor talks, and added that he was “really sorry,” telling the Las Vegas Review Journal, “I don’t have a racist bone in my body.”

During the backlash of the time, Jon said he intended to use an expression he employed in the past, describing people who lie as having “rubber lips,” but took it “too far.” Shortly before his resignation, the coach said he learned a lot.

Net worth

Head coach Jon Gruden signed a ten-year contract with the Las Vegas Raiders in January 2018. Jon hadn’t coached in the NFL since being terminated by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ten seasons earlier. He spent the time in between coaching stints working at ESPN, co-hosting Monday Night Football. When he signed his contract, it was worth $100 million which equals out to $10 million a season.

Following the 2021 NFL season, Jon Gruden would have six years, about $60 million left of his deal. With the presence of the distant emails, however, it comes to question whether there is language in Jon’s contract that could allow the team part ways with him.

Viewing the circumstance from a financial perspective, a $100 million deal is in peril because of profane comments that were supposedly made out of mere frustration. This isn’t how the Raiders or their loyal fan base saw this going. At this point, time is the best source.

Tell us your thoughts on the net worth of coach Jon Gruden. Should he lose it because of comments made a decade earlier? Or would that be the coach escaping accountability?
