How did Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart became an iconic duo?
When Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party was announced back in 2016, it seemed completely out of place. Martha Stewart, home cooking and decorating legend, teaming up with OG gangster rapper Snoop Dogg for a cooking show?
But the show was a hit on VH1, with great chemistry between the two, and plenty of celebrity guests to keep things interesting. The chemistry between Martha and Snoop though isn’t just for show. The two are easily the best of friends in real life as well.
Opposites attract
The two met for the first time back when Snoop Dogg was on Martha Stewart’s talk show, Martha. In 2008, Martha was on top of the lifestyle TV world, and Snoop came on to be interviewed and participate in a cooking segment together. But the two had such a good time they ended up spending more time together.
Since then, the two have remained close and openly call each other best friends. There’s a reason they match so well on Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, and it’s because the dynamic they have is 100% real.
Making the goods
The two’s friendship does usually revolve around food, but there’s nothing wrong with that. Sure, Snoop Dogg is known for his weed habits, but he can make a mean dish too. Plus, you know the minute the two dive into one of Martha Stewart’s iconic cocktails, it’s a good time.
But Snoop is apparently high every day on set, though 100% responsible while toked up. He’ll even sprinkle a pinch or two of cannabis into his dishes, and if he’s feeling risky, throw some into Martha’s dish too. Course, Martha’s a good sport and is anything but against the green stuff. She may not be hitting the blunt when passed to her, but she’ll dive into a weed brownie or two.
With or without alcohol and drugs, Martha Stewart and Snoop Dogg are having a good time while together though. But the true magic to their friendship isn’t cooking under the influence, but the lessons they teach each other.
Helping each other be better
Sure, Snoop Dogg could make himself food before, but he couldn’t cook until he learned from Martha Stewart. Now, he can make a five-course meal and make it look like Gordon Ramsey cooked it. Plus, he’s grown his library of cocktail and food recipes thanks to the meals and drinks Martha’s made.
On the other hand, Martha Stewart is probably the most well-educated woman in all of the Hamptons on gangsta rap history. Through Snoop himself and the various rappers that have appeared on Martha & Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party, Martha has opened herself up to all of rap music and learned a lot.
Uniting two unlikely groups
If you told someone back in the 90s that Snoop Dogg and Martha Stewart were going to be best buds, you’d get slapped for saying something so crazy. But as the world changes, so do people, and it’s clear that the two have found common ground regardless of their differences.
It’s proof that money doesn’t mean you can’t be relatable, and where someone comes from doesn’t mean they can’t learn class. Both Snoop and Martha have made a point that their show is about melding cultures together, and just because the kitchen had a split personality doesn’t mean they can’t come together at the end of the day.

I love Snoop and Martha forever and always. I’m retired disabled and love to cook. Disabled due to double aneurysms. One burst & was operable and the other, I live with as a survivor. Seeing two of my favorite people collaborate with so much fun, laughter and everyday reality is a blessing. The show truly is inspirational and so uplifting. Please keep the laughter and love coming ….Linda Beckett

This relationship is proof, Race, Money, are not barriers to living together as friends. If only we could all take notice of these two and learn to co-exist .
