‘Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’: Is this cast member getting a true-crime doc?

Who knew the worlds of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills & true crime documentaries would ever collide?! ABC News Originals will be releasing a true crime special focusing on the recent legal problems of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast member Erika “Jayne” Girardi.

“The Housewife and the Hustler” will examine the reality star’s possible financial downfall as her ex-husband is being accused of embezzlement. The couple had filed for divorce in November – however, Erika may still face the consequences of her lawyer husband who has allegedly stolen millions of dollars from his clients.

What to expect from “The Housewife and the Hustler”

The special’s press release detailed: “ABC News Originals goes inside the real-life legal drama facing the husband of ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills’ cast member Erika Jayne, legal titan Tom Girardi. Once considered a crusader of justice, Girardi now stands accused of embezzling from the victims he swore to protect.”

The ABC News Original special has Steven Baker set as executive producer who is also known for his acclaimed work on ABC’s Nightline. The special will be premiering on Hulu on June 14th. The special “The Housewife and the Hustler” will feature interviews with Los Angeles prominent figures such as Christopher Darden, mostly known for his work as a prosecutor in the O. J. Simpson murder case.

We will also be hearing from former Real Housewives stars such as Dana Wilkey and Danielle Staub. Both reality celebrities have faced their own legal problems including fraud, defamation of character, and other various allegations. Dana Wilkey was previously part of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast and is most known for her infamous bragging about her $25,000 sunglasses.

On the other hand, Danielle Staub has caused her fair share of drama when she was in The Real Housewives of New Jersey. From hair-pulling to causing the notorious table-flipping scene with Teresa Giudice, Staub knows the insanity of being part of the Real Housewives cast.

Should Erika Girardi continue being on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills?

In December, Tom Girardi and his law firm, Girardi & Keese, were held in civil contempt and had their assets frozen by a judge. Tom was involved in another lawsuit a month later, filed by his business partners who claimed that Tom never paid them nearly $315,000 in income. They also allege that he had secretly taken out loans against their property for his own personal use.

Considering the majority of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills cast flaunt their extreme wealth, perhaps a suspect of embezzlement shouldn’t be participating. A story from Variety recently detailed the intense legal jeopardy the Girardis are currently facing. The story also highlights the extreme risk Erika Girardi is taking by still being on the show.

Zev Shechtman, a bankruptcy attorney from the Los Angeles firm Danning Gill stated, “It’s unwise. Anything that she does that flaunts her wealth, which is ostensibly everything she does, will be evidence against her. All of the assets, all the property that she has, is going to be a target. Everything that she does will be subject to scrutiny. And it’s not scrutiny in the tabloid sense, it’s scrutiny in the liability sense.”

However, according to reports, Erika Girardi makes a staggering $500,000 per season as a cast member on the reality show. Thus, she may not be letting go of that hefty income any time soon. It has also been hinted that Erika will be addressing her recent divorce this season on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
