How House of the Dragon is Gearing Up to Be the Biggest Show of 2022?

After nearly a glorious decade of dragons, fire, blood, and madness, the series that captured hearts around the world was seemingly over. The world came to believe that one of the most impactful shows about a fictional world set in the medieval ages had finally come to an end. After running for eight seasons, from 2011 to 2019, we bid adieu to our favorite characters and Houses for the last time. However, the Game of Thrones series based on George R.R. Martin’s acclaimed series A Song of Ice and Fire will have the last laugh.

If you have visited some of the best new online casinos in gambling strips, like Canada, India, the US, etc., you may have seen a rise in dragon-themed games. That is because of the newest offering from Ryan Condal and George R. R. Martin has won the attention and hearts of Game of Thrones fans all over the world.

House of the Dragon is the most recent series to come out after the finale of Game of Thrones three years ago. The series acts as a prequel to the events of Game of Thrones. Let us take a closer look at how House of the Dragon ties up with the beloved yet controversial Game of Thrones series.

How Does House of the Dragon Relate to Game of Thrones?

House of the Dragon is set 200 years before the events of the sequel, Game of Thrones, and focuses on Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen. The series follows the House Targaryen, the ancestors of fan-favorite Daenerys Stormborn, dragon rider of House Targaryen in GoT. The show is set before the birth of Daenerys, by 172 years.

As the name of the show suggests, the Targaryens are the House of the Dragon. Their sigil is a three-headed red dragon against a black field, and some members ride dragons. They are the ruling House over the continent of Westeros. The first episode depicts the members of the House – King Viserys, his royal wife Aemma, and their daughter, the heir apparent Rhaenyra. Alongside the main characters, the other Targaryen key players are Prince Daemon, Viserys’ younger brother, Lord Corlys Velaryon, and his wife Rhaenys Targaryen, titled ‘The Queen Who Never Was.’

Some of the events in House of the Dragon have been mentioned in a few Game of Thrones episodes as references to the past.

The Future of House of the Dragon: A Blast or a Bomb?

Although House of the Dragon has a set canon in the series and the books, it is yet to be seen how much they stick true to it. Since there is a lack of solid source material, there is a lot of space for the series to grow. However, it remains to be seen if the showrunners can bring it to a strong finish or face the wrath of viewers.

The series is mired with controversy and apprehension due to the treatment shown to Game of Thrones. GoT was a splendid series with ups and downs, peaks, and valleys throughout seven seasons. Yet when it came to the eighth and final season, the showrunners received a lot of flak. Viewers complained that the season ruined its stated canon, was riddled with plot holes, had careless editing mistakes, and more. It exhibited the feeling that the creators had cut out a lot of creative ideas and were willing to cut losses and move on to the next project. The season ruined the entire watching experience for many viewers.

Now, with three episodes out, House of the Dragon has received nothing but acclaim and raving reviews. However, it remains to be seen if the showrunners will learn from their mistakes or fall into the pit. George R.R. Martin, the writer of the ASoIaF books has more presence in the prequel, so viewers are hopeful that the House of the Dragon will live up to its name.

What Will Be the Ultimate Outcome?

House of the Dragon is slated for a total of 10 episodes and has already been renewed for a second season. Here’s hoping the Targaryen fire and blood continues the glorious run it is on currently!
