Trying to catch up? The best 2020 TV shows you missed

If there was anything we were doing during quarantine in 2020, catching up on the latest TV shows definitely was it. Since most of the world was stuck inside all day with nothing to do in our free time except stare off into our screens, it’s safe to say that a lot of us had quite a few memorable bingewatches this past year.

2020 was also just a great year for TV show releases in general. However, just in case you missed out on all the addicting & new shows that came out this year, don’t worry. We’ve got you covered with a list of all the best ones that are worth streaming here.

The Midnight Gospel

Created by Adventure Time creator Pendleton Ward & comedian Duncan Trussell, The Midnight Gospel is probably one of the most important TV shows to come out of 2020. The animation follows actual podcast interviews between Trussell and various guests as the protagonist, Clancy, explores various dimensions of his universe.

The show is incredibly trippy, surreal, and deals with some serious issues regarding all kinds of subject matters such as psychedelics, life & death, and very thought-provoking philosophical concepts. This certainly isn’t a light watch, and this show will definitely have you deep in thoughts long after you’ve watched it.

Devs

If you love TV shows dealing with anything science-fiction & technology-rated, then this new 2020 series is definitely for you. Alex Garland, the director of other great sci-fi hits such as Annihilation (2018) & Ex Machina (2014) serves as the mastermind behind this project. Devs follows the life of Lily Chan, a software engineer who works for a cutting-edge tech company in Silicon Valley.

However, as she begins to further investigate what’s going on with the company she works for after her boyfriend commits suicide, things turn darker & stranger. Watch along for all the best sci-fi, mystery, and drama.

High Fidelity

Following a different and revised take on the classic 2000’s film starring John Cusack, High Fidelity follows the life of record store owner Rob, played by the amazing Zoe Kravitz, as she navigates her way through love, loss, and tons of cool music as a twenty-something in New York.

While this show is a great rom-com filled with great acting, amazing music, and tons of heart & laughter, it was sadly canceled by Hulu despite being one of the most adorbs TV shows to come out of 2020. However, it’s so good that we promise you it’s still worth it to give the first, and sadly, the only season, a shot. High Fidelity is sure to have you laughing, singing along to great music, and also crying at all the right moments.

The Haunting of Bly Manor

Ready to get spooked? Fans of The Haunting of Hill House (2018)  couldn’t be more excited when a brand new series of The Haunting stories came out this year, and it was definitely one of the creepiest yet surprisingly heartwarming TV shows to come out of 2020. The Haunting of Bly Manor will have you covering your eyes in fear, shrieking in terror, but also crying and smiling at some very heartwarming & romantic scenes.

When a young au pair arrives to take care of a young boy & girl at a secluded & large countryside house in England, she begins to see apparitions and sense that something scarier lurks in the house. While she continues to be haunted by her own past, the au pair also is faced with the mystery of what exactly has happened in the house, and what the young children seem to be hiding from her.
