It’s bad enough when a great show gets canceled before its time. It’s even worse when that great show gets canceled unexpectedly following a shocking cliffhanger. This is exactly what happened when SyFy’s epic Dark Matter was canceled after the third season, leaving fans in perpetual uncertainty. Not cool, SyFy.

Why is Dark Matter worth saving?

Dark Matter is a sci-fi mystery with well-rounded characters and a brisk plotline. As mysteries are revealed, new mysteries are discovered, keeping fans on the edge of their seats. Following a crew that awakens, completely amnesic, as they learn of their lawless past and their reasons for being on the ship in question, Dark Matter always brings a new twist to tune in for.

A true ensemble piece, none of the characters in Dark Matter know what is going on, so their reactions are just as real and genuine as viewers’. We learn about the Galactic Alliance, rebel leaders, and corporate factions all with their own agendas and missions. In the center are the six amnesiacs and their android, trying to get by and help as best they can.

Series co-creator Joseph Mallozzi, who based Dark Matter on his comic book of the same name written with Paul Mullie, was just as bewildered as fans. After the cancelation, he released the statement, “For today, I just want to extend a heartfelt thanks to my amazing crew, my wonderful cast, and to all of you, our incredible fans. You all deserved better.”

What else can we do to save Dark Matter?

Fans of Dark Matter do deserve better. We deserve more than dangling plot threads and unanswered questions. We believe that there is a market for the show to continue. If The Expanse can be saved at the eleventh hour by Amazon, Dark Matter can be too.

We know fans of the series have passionately voiced their opinions in the past. Film Daily’s crew has been working to find new and creative ways to get the word out that there are some shows that deserve more. We have a new idea, but we need your help.

Let’s make a short film about Dark Matter fans. We can use this film to show decision-makers how passionate about this TV show we really are.

Here’s how you can help us:

  • If you’re comfortable showing yourself on camera, send us a smartphone video of yourself telling us in your native language exactly why you love Dark Matter.
  • If you’re not comfortable being on camera, just send us your quote about why you love Dark Matter and we’ll make graphics to go with your quote.

All you have to do is fill out the form below.

Be patient if uploading a large file.
