‘Spider-Man’ vs. ‘Venom’: Could Tom Hardy make this movie a reality?
An upcoming movie that features Spider-Man and Venom battling it out only makes perfect sense, as the character of Venom quite literally would not exist today if it wasn’t for the Spider-Man comic series. However, thanks to the two cinematic worlds being from separate production studios, a Venom and Spider-Man crossover film may just only be wishful thinking. However, can Tom Hardy try to make the movie into a reality?
It seems like a Venom and Spider-Man movie may actually be what actor Tom Hardy wants. Seeing as he does play the starring role in the Venom franchise, could this somehow give him the power to give the fans what they really want? Well, we’re not yet sure if we can actually see the two well-loved characters on the big screen battling it out anytime soon, but the actor did make it quite clear he’s been fighting for that possibility.
Venom and Spider-Man crossover?
As the release date of September 24th, 2021 approaches for the sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage, it looks like actor Tom Hardy is already thinking long and hard about the prospective third movie to the franchise. Of course, fans have been crossing their fingers since the birth of the Venom cinematic universe that we will finally be able to see a highly anticipated Venom and Spider-Man crossover. How likely is it though?
Well, according to actor Tom Hardy who plays the titular role of the symbiote-joined Eddi Brock himself, bringing Tom Holland’s Spider-Man into the mix is also a big goal of his. In a recent interview, the performer did with Esquire, when asked about the possibility of Venom joining forces with Spider-Man in future projects, the actor expressed that “I would be remiss if I wasn’t trying to steer any kind of connectivity”.
“I wouldn’t be doing the job if I wasn’t awake and open to any opportunity or eventuality or be excited by that. Obviously, that’s a large canyon to leap, to be bridged by one person alone, and it would take a much higher level of diplomacy and intelligence, sitting down and talking, to take on an arena such as that”, he shared with Esquire. While this isn’t a straightforward answer, we’ll take this for now as very hopeful news!
What’s preventing this crossover from happening?
Tom Hardy added about the possibility of the two fantasy characters meeting one another in the Venom cinematic universe that “Should both sides be willing, and it is beneficial to both sides, I don’t see why it couldn’t be”. Of course, this is definitely a lot easier said than done thanks to some complications from two separate production studios.
He added, however: “I hope and strongly, with both hands, push, eagerly, towards that potential, and would do anything to make that happen, within what’s right in business. But it would be foolish not to head towards the Olympic Games if you were running 100 meters, so yeah! I want to play on that field”. But could we actually get this movie to happen? Well, it all depends on what type of strings the Sony studio and producers can pull, but if Tom Hardy is on board, this may be a good sign that chances are higher.
After all, let’s not forget that the character of Venom was first introduced in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man all the way back in 1988 thanks to creators David Michelinie and Todd McFarlane. It only makes sense why fans are so eager to see the two fantastical characters meet up on the big screen. However, we’ll just have to wait and see if this can actually turn into a reality.
