The 'Spencer' trailer finally dropped, and we finally caught our first glimpse of Kristen Stewart as Lady Di. Will the movie show every part of the story?

‘Spencer’: Was Princess Diana murdered? Will the movie show the truth?

The long-awaited trailer for Spencer is finally here, and it doesn’t disappoint. The Princess Diana biopic stars Kristen Stewart in the titular role and is directed by Pablo Larraín, who also notably did Jackie, the Jackie Kennedy biopic starring Natalie Portman.

More footage from the film has been released exclusively and is not yet available for the general public to see. The teaser trailer and extended clip were first shown at Neon’s CinemaCon, and the teaser is now out on Neon’s YouTube channel. It’s unclear when fans will get a look at the clip from CinemaCon.

The teaser shows Kristen Stewart in several brief clips as the late Princess Diana. She isn’t heard speaking until the end of the teaser, but with two words people are already on board with her portrayal. Oscar buzz has officially been generated for the film, and more specifically for Stewart’s performance.

The film is set to be released this fall. Pablo Larraín’s signature style, gorgeous & muted, is on display in a teaser that intersperses shots of Stewart with the grandeur of her surroundings.

Of course, many are wondering how much of Diana’s life will be touched on by the film. Spencer reportedly takes place over a period of three days, during which Diana contemplates the future of her marriage to her husband Charles, whom she famously divorced. Both parties had affairs and were notoriously unhappy in their union.

Diana’s Death

Diana died on August 31st, 1997 after being fatally injured in a car crash in Paris. Both her boyfriend & driver died as a result of the crash as well.

There was rampant speculation surrounding the circumstances of these deaths, but ultimately the authorities concluded that a combination of reckless paparazzi and the inebriated state of the driver were most likely to blame for the crash. Diana’s contentious relationship with the British royal family, as well as their public response to her death, have led to a series of conspiracies with regards to their involvement.

The paparazzi who chased Diana’s car were split in their response to the crash. Some rushed to try to help, while others took photos that were later confiscated by police. Diana was rushed to a hospital, where she died due to her injuries.

The response to Diana’s death was worldwide & intense. She was easily the most loved member of the royal family. She was young, beautiful, charming, and showed kindness & friendliness that warmed the public to her. She was only thirty-six years old when she died and left behind her two sons, Prince William and Prince Harry.

Conspiracies

The sudden & tragic nature of Diana’s death has led to all sorts of conspiracies. Some stated beliefs include that the driver was paid to crash the car, and that the toxicology reports of his blood-alcohol level were falsified. This has since been debunked, as it’s been proven multiple times that he was not only intoxicated but had mixed alcohol with his antidepressants.

Many have accused members of the British royal family of working together to conspire to have Diana killed due to a rumor that she was pregnant with her boyfriend Dodi Fayed’s child, and that his status as an Egyptian Muslim was undesirable to the Christian royals. However, a post-mortem determined that Diana wasn’t pregnant when she died.

These conspiracy theories go on & on and point to all sorts of things. The only thing that has been concluded by the authorities, medical experts, and the general media are that Diana’s death was an accident caused by severe negligence on behalf of the paparazzi and her driver.
