Why did Machine Gun Kelly and Conor McGregor fight at the VMAs?
The drama between Machine Gun Kelly & Conor McGregor went down at the VMAs and just about everyone’s talking about it. What exactly happened between the popular rapper turned rockstar and the MMA fighter?
The VMA red carpet is known for being one of the classiest places for celebrities to congregate as they pose for iconic photographs with the paparazzi, show off their elegant fits, and make their way into the event to see who’s won each award. That being said, the VMA red carpet isn’t usually a place for drama to ensue – yet that’s exactly what happened between Kelly & McGregor. Here’s what we know.
The brawl that took place
According to video footage posted all over social media, the tension-filled incident between Conor McGregor & Machine Gun Kelly included water being thrown and security guards getting involved. The fight got so nasty, they had to be pulled apart according to a source who spoke to Page Six. In the videos, there’s a lot of screaming going on as security tries to tone the situation down to become more peaceful.
Why was the drink thrown? According to The Sun, some hasty words were exchanged leading up to the messy interaction. Fans speculate McGregor got upset when Kelly refused to take pictures with him on the red carpet, but that hasn’t been confirmed. Other fans have been quick to question why McGregor was attempting to start a fight with Kelly when McGregor is a trained fighter and Kelly is a musician.
After the fact, McGregor told Entertainment Tonight, “He showed up, and I don’t know. I don’t know the guy. Nothing happened with me. I only fight real fighters, people to actually fight, you know what I mean? I certainly don’t fight little vanilla boy rappers. I don’t even know the guy. I don’t know anything about him, except that he’s with Megan Fox.”
Clearly, McGregor knows a bit more about Kelly than he wants to admit since he knows Kelly’s a rapper and he knows who Kelly’s in a relationship with. At this point in time, Kelly hasn’t responded publicly about the incident.
The aftermath
After the fight between Conor McGregor & Machine Gun Kelly took place, it was business as usual for Kelly who had the VMA stage with Travis Barker to perform their song “Papercuts”. Their respective girlfriends, Megan Fox & Kourtney Kardashian, introduced them to the stage referring to the rockers as their “future baby daddies”, a statement that made huge waves with their fans.
Fans who have been following the love story between Kelly & Fox are trying to keep up with engagement rumors, wedding rumors, and now they’ll be paying close attention to a possible pregnancy!
As far as Kardashian & Barker go, she’s spoken openly about wanting to have another child in her reality TV show Keeping Up With the Kardashians in the past. It would be exciting to learn she’s planning to have another child with Barker. Kelly successfully went ahead with his performance regardless of the drama with McGregor on the red carpet.
What happens next?
Police reports haven’t been filed against any parties involved in the unfortunate VMA altercation at this point in time. No one actually ended up getting hurt and members of the security team on the VMA red carpet certainly did their job, despite the fact that some people think the security team overreacted a bit.
