Ben Affleck and Jennifer Lopez: What celebrities are cheering for Bennifer 2.0?

Ben Affleck is officially inside the golden circle when it comes to a positive reception of his newfound relationship with 2000s’ fiance, Jennifer Lopez, as it is now being reported by Page Six that the Batman v. Superman star has officially won over Lopez’s mother, Guadalupe Rodriguez. The actor & director seemingly won Jennifer Lopez’s momma’s approval after spending the weekend with her in Las Vegas last week.

“In the past, Jennifer’s mom and Ben were very close,” a source close to Lopez told People. “Guadalupe loved Ben. She was sad when they couldn’t work things out years ago. She is thrilled that they are back together now.” It was also noted how close Jennifer Lopez and her mother Guadalupe truly are, and that it is important for any boyfriend of the “Waiting for Tonight” singer to first earn the respect of her mother.

“Jennifer loves that Ben and Guadalupe hung out in Las Vegas,” the source continued, adding the following: “They both love gambling and had fun together at the Wynn hotel.” So, it now appears Ben Affleck, perhaps with some advantage given by his early 2000s time spent with both Jennifer Lopez & Guadalupe Rodriguez, has won over the mother of his love. Excellent! But who else is rooting for Bennifer 2.0? Let’s delve in. 

Bennifer: A history

Many fans of this famous couple will recall their 2000s romance, specifically their dating period which lasted from 2002-2004. Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez even had a September 2003 wedding planned before eventually pulling the plug on the event. Luckily, even though things didn’t seem to work out romantically, they have stayed friends over the years as suggested by close friends of the two. 

During their famed time together in the early 2000s, the pair starred in the 2003 romantic comedy Gigli, a film that was, well . . . a film. Ben Affleck even appeared in Jennifer Lopez’s “Jenny From the Block” music video later on in the relationship. 

Last January, Affleck spoke on their time together to The Hollywood Reporter, stating the following: “People were so f**king mean about her — sexist, racist. Ugly, vicious s— was written about her in ways that if you wrote it now you would literally be fired for saying those things you said. Now it’s like, she’s lionized and respected for the work she did, where she came from, what she accomplished — as well she f**king should be!”

A reunion of sorts

It was first reported by Page Six that Ben Affleck had visited J-Lo up to three times since she returned to Los Angeles after a long movie shoot in the Dominican Republic in early April of this year, but nothing too big was thought of this given that it was also reported the recently un-engaged singer & actress had also met up with other famous Hollywood elites for support, given her breakup with former MLB star Alex Rodriguez. 

However, things began to heat up literally after paparazzi were able to capture both Ben Affleck & Jennifer Lopez visiting his vacation home in Montana in early May. The couple were even spotted & photographed together in Miami last month, hanging out on the patio of a suite while enjoying each other’s company. 

In terms of celebrities who’ve actually tweeted out their support for this newfound romance, the long list includes the likes of Bette Midler, Sharon Stone, Chris Rock, and even Ben Affleck’s longtime friend Matt Damon, who was asked about the relationship during a May episode of The Today Show, saying “It’s a fascinating story. I hope it’s true. I love them both. That would be awesome.”
