Is Lea Michele the worst? All the times she’s proven she is
The more we learn about what was going on behind the scenes of Glee, the more we go into a full body cringe. For six years, Glee amassed a dedicated group of fans, but after the series went dark that’s when terrible stories crawled out of the woodwork. Unsurprisingly, one person at the center was uncontested series star Lea Michele, who played Rachel Berry on the series.
There were accusations of Michele’s behavior on and off the set of Glee. Naya Rivera, who played Santana Lopez, called her out. There were other stories about Michele complaining about learning Spanish for a role that called for a Latinx actor. There were rumors about diva behavior and a toxic behind-the-scenes environment.
While most of her co-stars have done well for themselves following the series, Michele hasn’t. The entertainment industry can be incredibly small at times, so for those looking for it. It lent credence to those, at the time, rumors.
Now, however, we seem to be getting more cooberations and stories about Lea Michele’s bad and racist behavior on the set of Glee. Samantha Ware, who played Jane Hayward on Glee’s final season, called out Michele after she tweeted about the unconscionable death of George Flyod, who died at the hands of Minneapolis police and sparked a surge of Black Lives Matter protests and events across the country.
Ware’s original tweet said, “LMAO REMEMBER WHEN YOU MADE MY FIRST TELEVISON GIG A LIVING HELL?!?! CAUSE ILL NEVER FORGET. I BELIEVE YOU TOLD EVERYONE THAT IF TOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY YOU WOULD “SH!* IN MY WIG!” AMONGST OTHER TRAUMATIC MICROAGRESSIONS THAT MADE ME QUESTION A CAREER IN HOLLYWOOD…”
Now we have a bunch more stories proving that Lea Michele is, indeed, the worst.
The stories
Twitter user @angelasauceda shared a time where she worked with Michele and the late Cory Monteith. (Monteith tragically died in 2013 of an overdose.)
“Been telling people this for years. I worked with her once. She literally would only speak to me through her assistant. Just not addressing my presence. She was two feet away. Corey was kind and incredibly lovely to work with.”
@jeantegodlock, who worked background on Glee and recently starred in Netflix’s Daybreak, recalled Michele calling background actors “cockroaches”.
did somebody say cockroaches? because that’s what she used to refer to the background as on the set of glee. but we grow up and we don’t stay background forever sooooo…

Another background actor for Glee, @JAXONFOGG, also confirmed the story.
“I worked background on that show a lot and that is facts”
@dearbina, who said her dad worked as crew on Glee, recalled another incident as well.
“lea michele is not nice. my dad worked crew on that show & she was the first person in line for craft services. she tasted the soup, made a face, spit it back DIRECTLY INTO THE POT & said it was disgusting & walked away while the whole crew was waiting behind her to eat….”
There are so many stories
Former 30 Rock actor Keith Powell was jumped aboard as well with the following tweet.
“I co-sign on this. Lea Michele is a terrible human and has said terrible things to many different types of people, including racist micoagressions to/about black people.”
@NickiDion1 also had another story about Michele treating background actors terribly.
Remember that time she asked her makeup lady why a background guy was standing so closer to her… mind you he was still atleast, like 6 feet away from her.

@spacecat90, who worked on Glee, brought a list to the proceedings.
“Things I witnessed as background on one season of Glee:
1. Lea calling background cockroaches
2. Lea telling multiple crew members how to do their job
3. Lea having a tantrum over something and holding up filming for at least an extra hour.”
Apparently, this behavior goes back to Michele’s days on Spring Awakening, accordion to @soniaharcourtxx.
I worked merchandise at Spring Awakening on Broadway and can confirm she is one of the nastiest people I’ve ever met (unless she deems you important)

@YoLaLaura recalled several incidents of Michele’s behavior while working as background actor on Glee.
“CONFIRMED. I did background on Glee for 3yrs. So. Many. Stories. i.e. refusing to sit next to background in auditorium scenes, called Chord stupid for not knowing her middle name, made us do a re-shoot cause she refused to wear a costume she thought was uncomfortable, etc. etc.”
Every bridge has to be burned by now
Chuey Martinez, host of the The Chuey Martinez Show, recalled interviewing Michele and how he refuses to do so again.
I’ve interviewed her a couple times. HORRIBLE ENERGY & VIBE. She was always so rude and condescending. I told my producers once “I’m never interviewing her again”. 💯💯💯

@ImiaEdwards recalled when Michele burped right in her face and a crew member had to apologize on Michele’s behalf. Like, c’mon Ryan Murphy, we know she was your favorite, but this behavior was unacceptable and she should have been flat out fired.
“Same . I did background on Glee . She burped directly in my face AND stepped on my foot without apologizing or even acknowledging my presence . A Crew member saw and said “Wow so sorry she did that .” So bold and rude!!”

No kidding. She not only burped in my face one time. She was a few feet away, so, just to make sure I got a proper whiff of her bad breath, she blew it at me as well =\
