Here’s why Kanye West is “Stronger” without Kim Kardashian
Alas, the end is finally here. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are officially calling it quits after a very rocky marriage, according to sources. Will a divorce make them stronger as individuals? Here’s everything we know about the famous couple’s split so far.
Not-so-shocking announcement
According to Page Six, sources have claimed “divorce is imminent” for Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, and they have even gone so far as to hire Laura Wasser, a divorce attorney.
One source explained that “They are keeping it low-key but they are done. Kim has hired Laura Wasser and they are in settlement talks.”
Should’ve seen this coming
For Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, an imminent divorce has been up in the air for quite some time. Kardashian hasn’t been wearing her wedding ring in recent paparazzi snaps, and West has been spending a whole lot of time at his $14 million Wyoming ranch – even on holidays. Not a great sign!
A source told People the two have basically been separated for a while now. “Kim got Kanye to go up there [Wyoming] so they could live separate lives and quietly get things sorted out to separate and divorce. She’s done.”
The source added: “Kim has work and projects that are important to her, and Kanye has his. Their lives don’t overlap much.” They also assured fans that “Kim seems happy,” and is “very focused on work and causes. She strongly believes she can make a change when it comes to prison reform. This is her passion. Her family is very proud of her.”
Reasons behind the divorce
Over the past few years, nothing has been private about Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s marital struggles. When West had his first public bipolar breakdown over the summer, Kardashian implored people to treat her husband with compassion.
“As many of you know, Kanye has bi-polar disorder,” Kardashian tweeted. Anyone who has this or has a loved one in their life who does, knows how incredibly complicated and painful it is to understand. I’ve never spoken publicly about how this has affected us at home because I am very protective over our children and Kanye’s right to privacy when it comes to his health.”
“But today, I feel like I should comment on it because of the stigma and misconceptions about mental health,” Kim concluded.
A source told People, however, that Kardashian is done sacrificing her own needs for West’s. The source explained: “Now this divorce is happening because Kim has grown up a lot. She is serious about taking the bar exam and becoming a lawyer, she is serious about her prison reform campaign. Meanwhile Kanye is talking about running for president and saying other crazy s–t, and she’s just had enough of it.”
How does Kanye feel?
A source claimed that Kanye West is equally as frustrated as Kim Kardashian is in their marriage. According to the source, the rapper is “completely over the entire family . . . He wants nothing to do with them,” and finds their reality show (Keeping Up with the Kardashians) and over-the-top lifestyle “unbearable”.
In July, Kanye West tweeted: “I been trying to get divorced since Kim met with Meek at the Waldorf for ‘prison reform.’”
We want prenup?
Considering how massively wealthy both Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are, it stands to reason that one of the biggest talking points in speculation of their divorce is how the two might divvy up their belongings. Some theorize their $40 million Calabasas, California home, (which they spent $20 million renovating), might be the biggest point in contention.
According to a source, “Kim is trying to get Kanye to turn over the Calabasas house to her, because that’s where the kids are based and growing up. That is their home. She owns all the land and adjoining lots around the house but Kanye owns the actual house. They both put a lot of money into renovating it.”

Though details of the divorce are still pending, odds are it’s gonna be a little messy to say the least. But they’ll probably turn out okay – in Kanye’s own words: “I’m a champion, so I turned tragedy to triumph/Make music that’s fire, spit my soul through the wire.”
