John Krasinski and Emily Blunt: Fall in love with the husband and wife duo
Wife and husband John Krasinski and Emily Blunt are the ultimate Hollywood couple goals. After all, the two are already separately both successful talents in the film and TV industry, but they’ve blessed us with the chance to see them on the big screen together in 2018’s A Quiet Place.
Now that the sequel is coming out soon, let’s take a jog down memory lane and fall even more in love with the adorable wedded it-couple.
A quick timeline
Long before John Krasinski and Emily Blunt were husband and wife, the two were doing their own things in Hollywood and were just starting to make it big in the industry. For instance, Emily Blunt was building up her acting résumé in films such as The Devil Wears Prada and John Krasinski was starring as the charming and funny Jim in the classic comedic sitcom The Office.
It wasn’t until the year 2008 when the two finally met through a mutual friend. “It’s kind of a sad, lame story”, Emily Blunt admitted on Late Night With Seth Meyers back in 2018. “I was in a restaurant, he was in the restaurant. I was sitting with a mutual friend . . . and my friend Gray goes ‘Oh my god, that’s my friend John..’ And that was it”.
“He was sitting with our friend Justin Theroux, and he abandoned Justin and came over to us. He just stood there and made me laugh. I kind of [knew right away.]”, she said. How adorable. It was love at first sight! Their first date was at a shooting range, in which John recalled “On our first date, I decided, ‘I’m gonna really hit the gas and bring her to a gun range”.
“I think that I was so sure that I would never end up with her . . . that I was like, ‘You know what, I’m gonna blow it right away and then that way you don’t feel bad”, he told Conan O’Brien. Luckily for both of them, the date ended up going well and the two have been in love since.
Tying the knot
Within a year, it was clear the two were absolutely sure of each other when they got engaged, and John Krasinski finally asked Emily Blunt to be his wife. He recalled that “She did cry after I cried and we cried and then everyone around us was crying”. The two ended up officially tying the knot on July 10, 2010, at a private ceremony at George Clooney’s estate in Lake Como, Italy. How cute!
By September of 2013, the two were officially expecting their first child together. On February 16th, 2014, Hazel Grace was officially born into the world. In January of 2016, the Hollywood couple announced to the world that their second child was on the way, and just like that, Violet, their second daughter, arrived in June of that year. Absolutely precious.
Working together
For the most part, wife and husband Emily Blunt & John Krasinski aren’t ones to put their relationship on blast to the rest of the public. However, fans were finally able to see the two on the big screen together in 2018’s hit horror-action flick A Quiet Place. In the movie, the two played a husband and wife duo as well with two kids. A Quiet Place was a smash hit, being well-loved by both critics and the general public alike.
A Quiet Place: II is now scheduled to arrive in theaters this Friday on May 28th, 2021, with John Krasinski working both in front of and behind the cameras again. Early reviews have stated that it’s just as riveting as the first, so of course, we can’t wait to see it. If Emily Blunt and John Krasinski have proven anything to us over the years, it’s that the two are a true power couple both on and off the big screen.
