Swoon over Jensen Ackles’s transformation for his role in ‘The Boys’

You’ve never seen Jensen Ackles like this before. In preparation for his role in the Amazon superhero show The Boys, Jensen Ackles has changed up his looks significantly for his character Soldier Boy. Looking through these new pics, it’s clear that the actor hasn’t missed a single day in the gym these past months.

Let’s take a look at the actor’s new look here, and review all the exciting details we know so far about The Boys. 

A new summer bod

First, he blessed us as the star on the hit sci-fi show Supernatural for fifteen years. Now, Jensen Ackles is ready to make fans swoon once again on season three of the Amazon sci-fi series The Boys. The actor is cast to play Soldier Boy, who can best be described as a superhero who happens to be super patriotic, and actually is a spoof of the superhero Captain America. 

Of course, being Captain America is only believable if you look the part as well, which meant that Jensen Ackles had to spend lots of time in the gym lifting weights and getting his workouts in to look superhero-ready for his role in The Boys. In fact, the actor also even had to grow a long, bushy beard as part of his transformation also. And we have to emphasize that it’s definitely a veeeery big beard. 

We have to say though, the results of growing out his hair and building up muscle have been quite impressive. The actor has been sharing his journey for getting superhero-ready to his fans on Instagram, and explained it as “Vought’s first superhero”, and has posted a video of him pumping some iron in the gym. Super impressive if you ask us. 

In the caption, the star wrote: “Okay [Stephen Amell from Arrow ], [Grant Gustin from The Flash], and all you other Supes out there . . . I’m beginning to understand the struggle. Or maybe I’m just too old for this crap”. He also joked around in the video and added: “These superhero workouts are much different. This was so much easier when all I had to do was wear flannel”. 

While a few photos from the set along with the brand new video he shared to the world on social media give us a small glimpse of what Soldier Boy will look like in The Boys, we’ve still yet to see Jensen Ackles in his full on superhero outfit as Soldier Boy. Ackles did reveal that the full outfit was “coming soon”, but it hasn’t been specified when “soon” will be. However, we’re crossing our fingers that this reveal will happen any day now. 

The show

If you’re trying to get on The Boys now to prepare yourself for when Jensen Ackles comes in, both of the first two seasons are available to stream on Amazon Prime. The release date for season three of the sci-fi show is still unannounced, but cast members have confirmed that it is halfway through completion. Hopefully, this could mean that we’ll be getting some brand new episodes at least before this year is over. 

Jensen Ackles coming into season three of The Boys, a show who shares the same showrunner as Supernatural, Eric Kripke, will certainly be good news for the show, as the actor is sure to bring along tons of his fans for the ride. It also appears that the role of Soldier Boy will be an important one, and we can probably expect to see Jensen Ackles on board for the following seasons in the series as well. 

Eric Kripke told Variety in an interview that “He’s one of these guys that’s been around for decades of Vought history. And he was Homelander before Homelander, so he’s from a different era, but he’s got the ego and the ambition – it just comes across in a different way because he’s from a different time”.
