Vanilla ice cream in a bag 

This first recipe for ice cream in a bag is a fantastic classic that you can mix anything into, from Oreos to fruit to caramel sauce, making it a perfect sweet treat no matter what your favorite ice cream flavor is! 

Ingredients 

  • 2 gallon sized ziplock bags
  • 2 cups heavy cream half and half or whole milk
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 6-8 cups ice
  • 1/3 cup rock salt

Instructions 

  1. In a gallon sized ziplock bag, add the ice and salt.
  2. In another gallon sized bag, add the heavy cream.
  3. Add in the sugar to the bag with the cream and shake the bag.
  4. Add in the vanilla and shake again. 
  5. Seal the bag completely so that the salt will not get into the bag and place in the bag with the ice. 
  6. Shake the bag for about five minutes or until frozen. 

Strawberry ice cream in a bag

Ingredients 

  • 4 cups ice
  • 1/4 cup rock salt or kosher salt
  • 1 cup half and half
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped strawberries

Instructions 

  1. Combine ice and salt in a gallon Ziplock bag; set aside. 
  2. Combine half and half, sugar, vanilla, and strawberries in a quart Ziploc bag; seal tightly. 
  3. Place quart bag inside gallon bag; seal. 
  4. Cover gallon bag in a kitchen towel. Shake vigorously until half and half mixture is thick and chilled, about seven to ten minutes. 
  5. Remove from bag to serve.

Raspberry ice cream in a bag 

This last recipe for ice cream in a bag is for those who want ice cream that has a little more zing and tang! For any fruit lovers, this is definitely for you! 

Ingredients 

  • 1 cup half-and-half cream
  • 1/2 cup fresh raspberries
  • 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons evaporated milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 cups coarsely crushed ice
  • 3/4 cup salt

Instructions 

  1. Using two 1-quart resealable plastic bags, place one bag inside the other. Place the first five ingredients inside the inner bag. Seal both bags, pressing out as much air as possible.
  2. Place the two bags in a gallon-size resealable plastic freezer bag. Add ice and salt. Seal bag, again pressing out as much air as possible.
  3. Shake and knead cream mixture until thickened, about five minutes. (If desired, wear mittens or wrap bags in a kitchen towel while shaking to protect your hands from the cold ice.)
