Can’t get enough Jamie Foxx? Check out these underrated movies of his

Jamie Foxx is undeniably an incredibly talented actor who has had a long list of movies on his acting résumé throughout his lengthy career. This actor has won and been nominated for plenty of awards from the Oscars, to the Golden Globes, BAFTAs, and tons more. This is already aside from the fact that the star has an equally impressive career in music being a Grammy award winner as well.

Are you also a big fan of Jamie Foxx just like us? Well, you’re certainly not alone then. While this actor has been a part of way too many movies to list and talk about in just one article, let’s break down some of his best ones. So without further ado, check out all the most iconic Jamie Foxx movies here.

Ray (2004)

If you don’t already love Jamie Foxx, movies like these that he has starred in certainly will make you understand all the hype behind his talent. After all, this is the film that won him the prestigious awards of Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Oscars, the Golden Globes, BAFTA, Screen Actors Guild Awards, and Critics’ Choice Movie Awards. Come on – just how impressive is that awards sweep?

As for the movie itself, Jamie Foxx portrays the iconic soul musician Ray Charles. The film begins with the future legend watching his seven-year-old brother drown at a young age, then losing his sight at age nine. Soon enough, Ray begins to rise up and become noticed in the Seattle jazz scene while simultaneously battling with his own demons such as drug addiction, infidelity, and more.

It’s a wonderful portrayal of a legendary musician, and it’s a true must-watch for not just anyone who loves Jamie Foxx movies, but also for those who love music history – specifically soul music, and of course, for those that are big fans of the iconic Ray Charles himself.

Baby Driver (2017)

Okay, so we have to preface this by saying that Jamie Foxx only plays a supporting role in this film, and unfortunately, a few members in the cast were exposed to be quite problematic, to say the least after the movie was released (Kevin Spacey, Ansel Elgort, we’re looking at you). However, we refuse to let the actions of those folks take away from all the hard work from the others on the cast and crew of Baby Driver

If you’re looking for a movie that has it all, including some witty comedy, tons of action, epic car chases, sweet romance, and most importantly, one of the greatest movie soundtracks to ever exist, then Baby Driver is definitely for you. Directed and written by the talented auteur Edgar Wright, you already know from Wright’s other works that this film is sure to be a blast.

Just Mercy (2019)

This is one of the more recent movies starring Jamie Foxx, and this amazing drama also features fantastic talents such as Michael B. Jordan, Brie Larson, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and more. This film is about a man named Bryan Stevenson, a Harvard graduate who sets off to Alabama to help defend those who have been wrongly condemned for crimes they did not commit due to the racist and prejudiced justice system.

One of Stevenson’s first cases includes a man sentenced to die for the murder of a young woman despite strong evidence that proves his innocence. Overall, this movie is socially important and filled with some really excellent acting. It was even nominated for Screen Actor Guilds Awards and also won the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Motion Picture. This is definitely one of the most important movies starring Jamie Foxx.
