Could Destiny’s Child release a new album soon?
Destiny’s Child has caused some serious mayhem in the Twitter-sphere when their Twitter and Facebook page was recently altered. One minor change in the Destiny’ Child header image on social media had observant fans wondering why the profile was updated. As a result, the sleuth-like fans began hypothesizing that a new Destiny’s Child album must be on the way.
Even more evidence points towards a reunion, as the Destiny’s Child trio has been seen back together again. Could a new album by the early 2000’s queens actually be in the works? See what the members have to say about their relationship fifteen years after the group disbanded.
New music?
After the profile update, fans swiftly had the girl group trending on social media. Many were wishing for just about any news be it a new album, repackage of old hits, or a reunion tour.
Unfortunately, there has yet to be official comeback news from any of the members: Beyonce Knowles, Kelly Rowland, and Michelle Williams. Yet, the idea of a reunion isn’t too far-fetched. The group has returned to the stage since they disbanded in 2006.
Previous Destiny’s Child reunions
Most recently, the group reunited on Beyonce’s headline stage at Coachella in 2016. Destiny’s Child performed a medley of some of their hit songs like “Lose My Breath”, “Say My Name”, and “Soldier”.
However, the group hasn’t just reunited on the stage. The trio has stayed close despite being on separate career paths. Knowles, Rowland, and Williams have all shown the world that the Destiny’s Child friendship never ended.
The group’s lasting friendship
Throughout the years, the three women have shown their support for one another. In February, Kelly Rowland welcomed a son, Noah. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, Rowland revealed that the trio reunited to celebrate Noah’s birth. Knowles and Williams visited Rowland and her new baby boy.
Rowland said, “The girls were literally over here at the house just recently and when they met the baby it was like another part of my heart just. . . Being able to share space with Michelle and Bey is truly a gift.”
The singer & actress added, “It’s really a gift because we’ve known each other for so long and the industry doesn’t really make friendships. . . It’s the nature of it, and we still have each other after all these years and I’m just so grateful for them and they are a highlight of my life. Not professionally, but our friendship and our sisterhood — you’re going to make me cry.”
The singers of Destiny’s Child have had each others’ back for decades. Their third studio album, Survivor, turned twenty years old this May 1st. Rowland also spoke about the emotions that came with the album topping the charts and skyrocketing their careers.
Rowland said, “I remember it feeling like, ‘Here’s the hit. Here’s your first No. 1, here’s your second No. 1. This record is at the top of the charts, it’s staying at the No. 1 spot. The record went platinum.’ It’s just like the train that wouldn’t stop moving. It was amazing.”
Beyonce’s upcoming solo work
Although a new album from Destiny’s Child is still under question, we know for certain that Beyonce has been working on some serious gold. The icon revealed that she’s been working on new music for the past eighteen months.
It’s been nearly five years since her astonishing album Lemonade was released. Now, the singer cites that she hopes this new album will help others cope with the turmoil that came with the pandemic.
“With all the isolation and injustice over the past year, I think we are all ready to escape, travel, love, and laugh again,” Knowles told Harper’s Bazaar. “I feel a renaissance emerging, and I want to be part of nurturing that escape in any way possible. I’ve been in the studio for a year and a half.”
