Quarantine has proven itself to be an eventful time for all of us. But as the world is stuck inside to help flatten the curve, the consumption of media is at a new level of insane. With so many streaming services to pick from, it’s easy for anyone to watch whatever they want.

Of course, some celebrities are definitely profiting off this virus more than others. Who would’ve thought the top show during quarantine was going to be a show about a tiger owner war? But there are more traditional media stars making bank off the quarantine lifestyle. Or should we say the Netflix lifestyle?

The entire cast of Trolls: World Tour

Let’s be real: no one would’ve seen this movie if it had gotten a traditional release in theaters. But because buying a movie for $20 digitally is a much better deal, many families are using this as an opportunity to keep their kids entertained and have a family movie night.

However, in doing so, Trolls: World Tour made Dreamworks Animation more money in three weeks of digital sales than the entire first movie made in box office sales. On top of that, some drive-in theaters are showing the film, so it’s making more money that way too. Talk about making bank.

Lady Gaga

“Stupid Love” already had fans stupidly exciting for her new album Chromatica. But the virus caused the album release to get pushed back. Thankfully, it didn’t get pushed back too far, and easily is going to take #1 this weekend once the final numbers come through.

Especially after a well-hyped duet between her and BLACKPINK and the already released “Rain on Me” featuring Ariana Grande, it’s no surprise she’s topping the charts. With this, Gaga will have her 6th #1 album.

Steven Soderbergh

We’re going to be $100 that Steven Soderbergh did not think when making Contagion back in 2010 that he was predicting the future. Yet he’s definitely reaping the rewards and kicking up his celebrity net worth as the rentals for the movie shoot up.

As the movie has scary similarities to the real life Coronavirus crisis, people have been turning to the fictional crisis either for masochistic reasons or to find some kind of hope. Either way, Soderbergh is winning big time.

Issa Rae

With two hit romance films now kicked to streaming and rentals, it’s no surprise that the actress and producer is making bank from it. The Photograph was kicked from theaters too soon, so it quickly hit rental services for audience to enjoy. The highly-anticipated rom-com The Lovebirds may have been sold to Netflix, but we don’t think the rights were cheap.

On top of her films right now, plenty of people are probably using this time to discover Insecure, her hit HBO series she created and stars in. No matter what direction you turn, you’re probably going to find Issa wherever you look.
