Think celebrities are fake? Quarantine transformations prove it
Even when we’re not dealing with a global pandemic or quarantines, most of us can’t afford the glamorous beauty routines adopted by celebrities. All that hair dye, designer make-up, waxing, and trimming adds up quickly. No matter how much money they have in the bank, celebrities are forced to join the rest of us in going without as the world remains shut down from COVID-19.
Now, celebrities are humbling themselves by taking to social media in order to share their greying beards, pimples, and comfy pants. It turns out that without the perfect lighting, a personal stylist, and the best self-care regimen money can buy, celebrities look just like everyone else. Who would have thought?
Jim Carrey
The comedy legend is looking more like a backwoods camper these days. Jim Carrey posted an Easter Sunday photo wherein he rocks a long, white-grey Santa beard and a shaggy head of hair. Carrey is also holding a small rabbit cuddling with a carrot.
Dua Lipa
This British pop sensation dropped her latest album, Future Nostalgia, right before the COVID-19 pandemic led to widespread quarantining around the US & UK. Dua Lipa isn’t doing many promo tours or concerts these days. Instead, she’s keeping her long, greasy, pink locks in a messy top bun.
Jada Pinkett Smith
Will Smith’s wifey Jada Pinkett Smith is a talented performer in her right, but she’s no nail artist. Pinkett Smith took to Instagram to ask for help with maintaining her nails at a time when no salons are open.
Mindy Kaling
With all the Zoom meetings dominating work schedules these days, The Office alum Mindy Kaling showcased her quarantine duds on Instagram. We can all relate to matching professional tops with pajama bottoms in preparation for a video meeting. There’s nothing groundbreaking about this fashion choice.
Zoe Saldana
Actress Zoe Saldana showed off her questionable make-up skills with a selfie she posted on Instagram with her husband Marco Perego. The duo rock blue and pink eye make-up, red lipstick, and painted mustaches. It may not be red carpet material, but it’s definitely a look.
Miley Cyrus
Miley Cyrus loves to push the envelope, but there’s nothing controversial with letting your hair grow out and wearing oversized rock t-shirts. Sure, Miley Cyrus’s bangs could use a trim, but looking like a normal person is what’s trending these days.
Will Ferrell
In addition to the poor camera angle, Will Ferrell’s quarantine selfie has gone viral thanks to the endless mountain of wiry hair on top of his head. Ferrell’s look isn’t helped by fluffy sideburns and eyebrows.
Katy Perry
This pop princess shared a bare-bones selfie sans make-up, hair styling, or flashy outfit. Instead of glitz and glamor, Katy Perry showcases her dark roots, blackheads, and oily skin.
