‘American Horror Story’: What can we expect from the terrifying new season?
After over a year since any new American Horror Story content, we’ve been getting a decent amount of news about the upcoming season of the beloved FX anthology series. Due to COVID, as with many things, season 10 of American Horror Story was pushed back a year. But now it seems like thighs are well underway for the new season of American Horror Story.
What sort of horror story will audiences be told? Last time, we went to the 80s. We’ve seen cults, haunted hotels, clown serial killers, and more over the previous nine seasons of American Horror Story. Here’s what we can expect from the terrifying new season of American Horror Story.
Double Feature!
The theme for the new season of American Horror Story is “double feature”. When season 10 drops in 2021, there will be two different stories with two different casts. As the announcement says, “Two horrifying stories . . . one season. One by the sea . . . the other by the sand.” Sea & sand didn’t surprise many as, based on earlier clues, fans believed the new season of American Horror Story was going to be set at the beach.
But, Ryan Murphy said that the subtitle of Double Feature means that fans are getting two seasons of American Horror Story. Responding to a fan question, he wrote, “It means TWO SEASONS for the fans airing in one calendar year! So double the viewing pleasure.” The most interesting thing about the new season, however, is this: “One set by the sea (this cast has already been announced). A second by the sand (that cast announcement coming).”
So we’ll be seeing two different casts as well. Considering the pool of actors that Ryan Murphy has to pick from? It should be interesting to see who will be in the second set.
What we know about “first” season of AHS: Double Feature
The first season of the new season of American Horror Story: Double Feature has already announced the cast. What a star-studded cast it is! For the returning cast, we have Sarah Paulson, Evans Peters, Kathy Bates, Leslie Grossman, Billie Lourd, Adina Porter, Lily Rabe, Angelica Ross, Finn Wittrock, and Frances Conroy. Joining is Macaulay Culkin and Kaia Gerber in their AHS debuts.
We still have, apparently, another different cast as well to see. Maybe we’ll see Emma Roberts in the second season of the Double Feature? Or fan favorite Cody Fern returning for that part of the season? It makes sense that we’d see fan faves in both parts of Double Feature. So, we still have some casting news to expecting for the new season of American Horror Story.
What else can we expect?
Fans think that the new season of American Horror Story will feature either mermaids, sirens, or vampires. In one BTS image from Murphy, we do see what looks like a Nosferatu sort of character roaming in the dark. Both Rabe and Paulson said they’re playing very different characters than previous seasons. With Paulson adding that she’s sporting a hair color that she hasn’t yet.
Culkin, meanwhile, agreed to the series when Murphy pitched him “crazy, erotic sex” with Kathy Bates. Apparently, according to Murphy, Culkin said “This sounds like a role I was born to play” before signing up then and there. The new season is also shooting in Provincetown, Massasschusetts. We don’t have a release date for the new season of American Horror Story, but we’re guessing it will be in Oct. as per usual.
So the new season of American Horror Story definitely promises on being an interesting one to see, especially to see how the Double Feature concept plays out.
