On November 5th, Aaron Carter sadly lost his life in his home in California. The 34-year-old is known for his career which took off in the early 2000s. He also shot to stardom thanks to his older brother Nick Carter, a member of the boyband Backstreet Boys.

There have been many controversies surrounding Aaron’s personal life including his death. What was Aaron Carter’s net worth before his death? Is his death being treated as suspicious? Here’s everything you need to know.

Who was Aaron Carter?

Aaron Carter was an American singer, songwriter, actor, dancer, and record producer. He is best known for being a teen pop sensation in the early 2000s, when he released his self-titled debut album in 1997 and his 1999 studio album “Aaron’s Party”. He achieved success with singles such as “I Want Candy”, “That’s How I Beat Shaq” and “Oh Aaron”.

Aaron started performing at age seven and soon became a star in the children’s entertainment world. He released his first album at age nine and toured with the likes of the Backstreet Boys & Britney Spears. Carter released his first single, “Crush on You,” from his debut album Aaron Carter in 1997.

In 2003, he starred in his own television show, Lizzie McGuire. Carter branched out into acting in 2004 and has since appeared on various shows including Smallville, 7th Heaven, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, and Law & Order: SVU. Additionally, he starred on Broadway as Seaweed J. Stubbs in Hairspray in 2008. He returned to making music more recently with his 2019 single release “Don’t Say Goodbye”.

Fighting family

Aaron Carter hasn’t had the easiest relationship with his family. In fact, in 2019, Nick Carter filed a restraining order against Aaron. This was based on allegations that Aaron had threatened to kill Nick’s pregnant wife. He added: “We were left with no choice, but to take every measure possible to protect ourselves and our family.”

Aaron reacted to the restraining order on Twitter, writing: “So my brother just got a restraining order against me. Take care. @NickCarter we’re done for life. I haven’t seen him in four years. And I don’t intend to.”

In the same year, Aaron made allegations of sexual abuse against his sister Leslie, who had died of a drug overdose in 2012. He alleged the abuse began when he was ten and claimed it would occur when Leslie failed to take her prescribed medication for her bipolar disorder.

Leslie was a 25-year-old mum-of-one when she was found unresponsive in New York on January 31, 2012. It was revealed that Leslie suffered an overdose and she was found taking prescription medications Olanzapine, Cyclobenzaprine, and Alprazolam. Nick Carter didn’t attend Leslie’s funeral due to the family’s feuding.

Aaron Carter’s death

Aaron Carter was found in a bathtub at his home in California on November 5th. Law enforcement sources tell TMZ they received a 911 call at 11 AM on Saturday that a male had drowned in the tub. According to Us Weekly, “the death certificate did not list Aaron’s cause of death but instead said, “deferred.” More tests are being run to determine how he died.

He is survived by his 11-month-old son, Prince, whom he shared with ex-fiancée Melanie Martin. Tributes began pouring in for the late singer including from his distant brother Nick.

Aaron Carter’s mom isn’t convinced the singer’s death is an accent and has recently shared photos of the scene where her son was found. On Facebook, Jane Carter wrote, “Still trying to get a real investigation for the death of my son Aaron Carter,” and added that she believes the coroner wrote off her son’s cause of death “as an accidental overdose. They never investigated it as a possible crime scene because of his addiction past.”

Jane Carter, Aaron’s mom, states that he faced a lot of death threats which should be investigated further. “Because of my son’s mental illness and prescription drug issues they just wanted it to be something easy that they didn’t have the time or inclination to address.” It’s unclear whether or not Carter’s death will be looked into, but it appears his loved ones aren’t giving up just yet.
