Why have Isla Fisher and Sacha Baron Cohen fled Sydney?

Sacha Baron Cohen and his wife Isla Fisher are known as one of Hollywood’s funniest couples and have been primarily stationed in Sydney, but as of late, they are packing up and hitting the road.

Hollywood’s funny couple have spent almost a year living in “The Emerald City” but are going back to Fisher’s hometown, Perth, in Western Australia, and setting up there for a while. So why the change and is the couple staying there for good? Let’s find out.

Why is the couple relocating?

When Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher moved their three children to the Perth area, they had to complete two weeks of quarantine to rejoin society. Sources say their move is permanent, so there are lots of boxes to unpack!

Even though their move hasn’t directly come out of their mouths, they allegedly wanted to do it before new COVID guidelines were implemented in New South Wales. As of September 14th, 2021, the area has been set in a new stay-at-home order for two weeks to stop the spread of recent COVID outbreaks.

The moving gossip came about when a Trim M’s Breakfast listener told the hosts they’d heard the news from a “reliable source”.

Fisher mentioned how safe she felt back in her home country after moving back from Australia in an interview. “I just feel so safe, I suppose the word is cosy, when I’m in Australia. It’s where I grew up.”

She went on to say, “I’m the happiest when I’m home. I miss it when I’m not here. I don’t feel any pressure when I’m in Australia. I don’t have to say or do or be anything. I mean, I don’t even have to wear shoes.”

When Sacha met Isla

Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher are one of Hollywood’s “it” couples, and it seems like they’ve been together for decades; in reality, it’ll be two decades in 2002. The couple met at a party in Sydney during that year and married in Paris eight years later after she converted to the Jewish faith.

In 2007, Fisher gave birth to the couple’s first child, Olive. During this time, she was still completing her studies to become Jewish and shared a rare look into the process in 2009. She revealed her Hebrew name is “Ayala,” which means “doe” in English. She also mentioned, “I would do anything – move into any religion – to be united in marriage with him.”

During their Paris wedding, they only had a total of six people in attendance. In an interview with Allure, Fisher mentioned, “It [was] very important to me to have a beautiful ritual celebrated with my family and friends. And when you are in the public eye, to keep that private and to make it happen without it being visible is really difficult.”

Since Sacha & Isla married and started a family, the outspoken and wildly funny couple keeps a low profile and rarely talks about their personal life in public.

Their iconic roles

Apart from that, Sacha Baron Cohen and Isla Fisher are known for some pretty iconic roles. Cohen has starred as Borat in Borat: Cultural Learnings of American for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan, and in 2020, he starred in the follow-up comedy called Borat Subsequent Moviefilm, which infamously raised eyebrows and brought back one of the most hilarious characters in comedy filmmaking.

Isla Fisher has starred in some very well-known films as well, like Wedding Crashers, where she played the legendary Gloria Cleary. She’s also known for her roles in Confessions of a Shopaholic, and the 2013 thriller mystery, Now You See Me.
