Rising Actor Matteo Della Putta’s Resilient Journey Through Pandemic and Pursuit of Artistry

Born and raised in the Italian city of Cremona, Matteo Della Putta has always had a strong affinity for the arts and a deep connection to humanitarian causes. His journey started in his middle school years, when an influential English teacher exposed him to a world that extended beyond Italy, igniting a lifelong interest in various languages, vibrant cultures, and the allure of travel. Guided by this teacher, Matteo started his linguistic adventure in a language-focused high school, where he reveled in the charm of the English, French, and German languages and their rich literature. Nevertheless, a deep-seated desire for artistic self-expression persisted at the core of his dreams.

At the tender age of 16, Matteo took the first steps towards realizing his artistic aspirations by joining a local theatre group named “VarieAzioni” in Cremona. It was here that he set off on a transformative journey into the realm of acting, starting as a member of the ensemble in their first production, and gradually taking on more challenging roles such as Haemon in the iconic Greek tragedy, “Antigone”. This pivotal experience fueled Matteo’s love for acting and steered him towards his artistic aspirations.

Upon finishing high school, Matteo moved across the world to Los Angeles to join the prestigious American Academy of Dramatic Arts (AADA) to further his acting studies. However, the sudden onset of the global pandemic forced him to interrupt his studies and return to Italy. Adapting to this new reality with grit and resolve, Matteo used this period to continue his artistic and personal evolution by joining the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in Florence, delving into acting for the camera, and unraveling the complexities of human behavior and emotions through an online psychology course.

In 2021, with renewed determination, Matteo returned to Los Angeles to complete his degree at AADA. He graduated successfully in May 2022, armed with a refined skill set and an unabated passion for acting. Immediately making his mark on the industry, Matteo secured lead roles in several short films and achieved his first role in a feature film.

In the short film “Letargia,” Matteo tackled the difficult and intricate subject of depression, adeptly expressing the internal conflict of a character battling their own mind. His compelling performance has attracted attention, with the film being nominated for various festivals both domestically and internationally. In “Unbearable,” Matteo delivered a sensitive portrayal of a character wrestling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) from an abusive past, his performance casting light on the profound impact of trauma. In “The Elysian,” Matteo navigated the world of suspense and mystery, convincingly playing a cryptic killer. He demonstrated his versatility in “The Freaks,” where he blended his passion for acting and music, and finally, his talent and dedication were acknowledged with a substantial role in the feature film “Arena,” where he portrayed a professor ostracized by society.

From his humble beginnings in Cremona to the bustling hub of Hollywood, Matteo Della Putta has evolved into a shining star in the cinema landscape. Through his artistic journey, he continues to add to the global conversation on humanitarian issues, showing that the language of cinema, much like his love for languages, knows no boundaries.
