Fun Outfits For Your Tween To Try
Being a parent is hard. When you’re raising your child, it can seem like time just starts to move faster and faster. All of a sudden it’s a birthday, and then it’s Christmas, and then it’s another birthday again. Some days it seems like you’re not even living day to day, you’re just on a roller coaster passing by all the highlights of an imagined life. In those moments, I find it’s best to practice mindfulness. Nothing helps you reestablish yourself and ground your mind. Like taking a few deep breaths and remembering. This is My life. I choose to live how I Want to live, and if something is not serving me, I can let it go. Now take a few more breaths. There. Doesn’t that feel better? Now that we’re back, that reminds us. Let’s take a lesson from our anxiety, and make some time for our kids. And now that school’s coming back in session, what better excuse than to spend time with the kiddos, back-to-school shopping! That’s why I’ve created this amazing guide to some of the newest trends in fashion, for tweens of all genders!
For The Boys:
When you’re a young man, crossing the threshold into adulthood. You start to ask yourself a lot of questions. Who am I? What do I want? What do I want my life to look like in ten years? Aging does this to us all. But for my money the first time we start to feel the burden of time is when we’re just on the precipice of turning into a teenager. In our popular culture, there is no other capital P period where we are expected to fundamentally change, so much as we are during our teenage years. Now for those of us on the other side of these changes. We know that it’s a little bit of an exaggeration to say we’re entirely different than we were as kids. But for someone who’s on the opposite side of this equation? Someone who’s staring down the barrel of eight of the most awkward years of a person’s life? Yeah, that can be pretty daunting. One of the ways we can help our children confront this feeling is to bolster their self-confidence. And one of the best ways to do that is to take them on a shopping spree! Let’s go a little wild for this school season. Now as a parent you may be wondering, well what’s in? To put it simply, for boys. It’s all about streetwear. If you’re a parent of a certain age you probably remember Tony Hawk. Just think that. I’m talking about tight beanies, baggy cargo pants, and of course a short sleeve t-shirt stacked on top of a long sleeve! Now you may guffaw at first, but trust me. This is what’s in. If you want your boy to look like they’re wearing the crispest, cleanest looks around. Try this neo-skater ensemble, trust me it’ll do wonders!
For The Girls:
Now, for girls fashion is in a more interesting place. Because of this, you have a little more leeway for how your tween dresses. If you want to follow the trendy example I set out for the boys. Consider going for a Y2K-influenced style. This includes a pair of baggy cargo pants, some sneakers, and a tank top. This is a simple look that shows that you’re on the cutting edge of fashion. But what if your daughter wants to go a little farther? What if she wants to wear something a little more unique? Well first off, I suggest these amazing leggings for tweens just as a go-to staple. Then I would suggest falling into some of the trends of the later 2000s. That’s right I’m talking about indie rock styling! Pair a dress shirt and tie with leggings and a skirt! Try on a prom dress but with a short sleeve t-shirt underneath! The world’s your oyster. My personal opinion on girls’ fashion right now, can be easily summed as such. If Lindsay Lohan would wear it in Freaky Friday, then you’re definitely on the right track!
For young kids on the path to becoming adults. It is easy to feel overwhelmed. You have all these new emotions, that you’re just not used to dealing with. Couple that with pitfall after pitfall, surrounding your path. For kids staying on the straight and narrow can be a really hard thing. That’s why it’s up to us as parents to help out. It’s up to us to make things easier for our kids. And one of the best ways to do that is to bolster their self-esteem. Making sure our kids feel good about themselves and their choices is an excellent way to keep them on the right track! And what better way to make them feel good than to make sure they are stunting? You may be incredulous, but I challenge you to try this method and see the difference it can make!
