When did you first realize you had a passion for performing?

I did some local theater when I lived in Massachusetts when I was younger, and I really loved it. My family had decided to move to LA when I was around 8 and I started getting into acting classes and found an agent. Once I started booking jobs, I knew the entertainment industry was where I wanted to be!

Congrats on your role in The Hyperions! Tell us about your experience on this film.

This was the first big movie that I had booked, and it was very exciting to get the call that I had booked it! It was such a different experience as I had mostly done commercials before so the size of the crew, the set and the lighting were as so much more than I was used to, but it was all very exciting. I think I got lucky with this movie because there were so major stars already signed on and they were so kind and patient with me. It was just another important moment in my life that made me realize that I wanted to be involved in entertainment!

Who are some of your favorite artists?

Right now, two of my favorite artists are Melanie Martinez and Harry Styles. I love the artistic vision they bring to their music, and I really try to bring the same passion for mixing music and art into my own projects!

What music do you listen to when you need to get inspired?

I listen to so many kinds of music. You can listen to what I listen to in a daily basis on my Spotify playlist. I am always updating it! Give it a listen here:

What’s been the biggest challenge you’ve faced at this point in your career?

One of the biggest challenges for me right now is finding a good balance between singing, modeling, acting and social media. I mean to be good at something takes a lot of time and practice. There is a lot of double threat, triple threat talk thrown around in the industry and while it is important to be multi-talented, when you really want to shine at something, you really must work at it and it’s hard to find the time in a day to work on everything at once. Right now, I am really concentrating on singing and modeling and I am not actively auditioning for theatrical work. Not saying I would turn down a project if it came my way but the auditioning process of learning scripts, doing self-tapes, going in for auditions and call backs is really a full-time job. Right now, I am really concentrating on making an album and trying to set up some live shows and possibly a tour soon!

What’s been your biggest success so far?

There have been so many little successes that I have had, and they come along enough to keep me going. Right now, the successes I am most thankful for are the building of my music team. I have an amazing management team at Pipe and Hat, ridiculously talented producers at Jenga Productions and I just recently signed to the Paradigm UK music division with Sol Parker who will be doing all my European tour bookings!

When did you start writing music of your own?

I met my producers when I first moved out to LA, and I have been with them for 7 years now! Nicci and Shayon at Jenga Productions saw something in me and really believed in me and we have been working together since I was 8 years old! They are literally like family to me! The natural process of working with them just led to writing music with them. I just completed a weeklong writing camp with them, and a bunch of other talented song writers and we have some many new demos to work on and I am very excited to work on them and get some new music out!

What do you love most about writing your own music?

I am a shy person until I really get to know someone, so I have a hard time sharing my emotions normally. I love that I get to package my thoughts and emotions into a song and share it as a look into my heart and mind.

How does making videos fit into your creative process?

Well, making music videos is really one of my creative loves. I get to combine singing, dancing, and acting into one artistic output and it is so fulfilling to be happy with the product and share it with the world! It’s a peek inside my mind!

What are some of your biggest goals for the future?

My big main goal right now is to create an album. The thing with a writing album is you don’t just write 12 songs and call it an album. You write a lot more than 12 songs and then pick the best ones that fit well together and then you have an album. It really is a process, but I am really enjoying the process!

Can we expect to see a full album from you at some point?

That is my number one goal right now! To create an album and then do some tour dates with it!

Who are some artists you’d love to collaborate with?

I would love to collaborate with Billie Eilish or Melanie Martinez! Their music and artistic abilities have me in awe! Their strength and courage to share their minds with fans is very inspiring to me!

Outside of performing, what are some of your biggest passions?

I love arts and crafts. I can just focus on creating something beautiful is small amount of time. I love watching movies and TV, especially Marvel movies! I love spending time with my family and friends as well!

Do you have any advice for other young artists out there?

Trust in yourself and your beliefs. Find people you can trust who work in the field you want to work in and listen to them and learn from their experiences. Be careful of who you trust and who you invest your time in.

Where can people keep up with your work?

You can keep up with everything Indi Star and find all my social links at indistar.co
