Gotta go fast: The most expensive car in the world that’s for sale
While the current stimulus check certainly won’t be enough to cover this one-of-a-kind toy, that shouldn’t stop you from saving to fulfill your dream of owning the most expensive car in the world. After all, we all have objects of desire that are mostly unrealistic. So come on, let’s dream together!
It appears that the Bugatti La Voiture Noire is currently the most expensive car in the world, priced at a jaw-dropping $18.7 million with a top speed of 261mph, capable of going from 0-60mph in just 2.5 seconds. Are you kidding? Imagine how much more it could go for in auction someday.
The Bugatti La Voiture Noire, which simply translates from French to “the black car”, is perhaps the epitome of guilty-pleasure spending, as this car is owned by only the richest of the rich, including soccer phenom Cristiano Ronaldo, who bought the car as a gift to himself in 2020.
Bugatti La Voiture Noire features
Described best as “existing in the same fantasy realm as the Batmobile”, this sleek vehicle offers incredible features that guarantee a high-performance, including an 8L quad-turbo16-cylinder engine, capable of upwards 1,500 horsepower in each wheel. Equally impressive is the Bugatti La Voiture Noire’s torque at 1,180 pound-feet.
The most expensive car in the world also offers other signature design details, making this attention-grabbing vehicle all the more impressive & worthy of its price tag. Some of the top-design features include an exposed backbone, a single-piece body made from carbon fiber, a unique front fascia, a custom-made headlight design, as well as many other exciting features specific to the Bugatti La Voiture Noire.
Bugatti La Voiture Noire visits the US
The Bugatti La Voiture Noire made its North American debut at Pebble Beach Concours D’Elegance in August 2019, an event that’s considered to be the world’s most celebrated car show.
The event, which takes place at the Pebble Beach Golf Resort in Monterey, California, celebrated the 100th anniversary of Bugatti as well as its rich history by debuting the most expensive car in the world. Fans of the supercar were told that the single-vehicle had already been purchased for $18.7 million and that the anonymous buyer wouldn’t actually get the car until roughly two-years later.
The vehicle, glimmering in a glossy dark-black would surely suit the needs of Bruce Wayne aka “Batman”, which is why it makes so much sense that this car took inspiration from the “world’s greatest detective”. To be fair we’re also convinced that this car would be of excellent use in a James Bond film.
Other expensive cars
There’s a long history of cars that have come up short in the race for the title “most expensive car in the world”. Here we look at some other impressive vehicles that, while not quite up to the standard of the Bugatti La Voiture Noire, still cost more than just a pretty penny.
The Pagani Zonda HP Barchetta currently goes for a whopping $17.6 million, decorated in a dark blue that’s almost as blinding as Elvis Presley’s blue-suede-shoes. Also, to keep along with the Bugatti theme, the Bugatti Centodieci costs $9 million, while the Bugatti Divo is priced at $6 million.
Our advice? Fall in love with someone from the Bugatti family if you love these lavish yet expensive cars . . . it may be the only way you’ll ever get behind the wheel of one.
