Hit the brakes: Here’s why you should watch the ‘Fast and Furious’ movies
Movie fans across the world are often asked about what kind of movies involving cars they like the most, and the answer is simple: Fast and Furious. The most successful car-themed sequel is rolling out its ninth movie, scheduled to premiere in theaters and everywhere this summer. The new picture of the franchise was supposed to be out in 2020, but the pandemic put its foot on the break.
The new installment F9 drops in theaters on June 25th and will surely bring the action fans love when watching the other Fast and Furious movies: Car racing at its finest, macho stunts, and terrible jokes – all added to awesome high-speed pursuits. These things are normal for all the “Fast Saga” diehard fans, but those may not seem the case for most other movie aficionados.
For that reason, we’re here to help you understand and enjoy Fast and Furious movies in a way where you’ll be thrilled after watching one (or watching them all!). Without further ado, let’s start our engines and learn why you should watch the Fast and Furious movies.
Strong Characters
Every hit movie comes in with strong characters giving these movies a great, fast-paced tone. And the “Fast Saga” is not different. All of the films in the franchise come with rock-solid characters that rule the story. It’s worth noting that actors like Vin Diesel, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Paul Walker gained lots of projection through Fast and Furious.
Let’s take Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto. He is the main character of the saga, a mechanic who tunes cars for the illegal races in LA, and who also helps with some huge carjackings involving large sums of money. Dom is the protagonist of most of the movies, but he counts on some other guys to help him on the job.
And there’s the other side of the coin, with strong law enforcement characters that help dismantle Dom’s racing ring. Brian O’Connor, played by the late Paul Walker, is a police agent investigating Dom’s carjackings & races – but later he gets involved in the scheme.
Breathtaking Stunts
In every action movie, what do you expect to see the most? Stunts, of course! The Fast and Furious movies have them all, but they go way further than any other franchise. In the first movie, the most amazing stunt is a drag race involving two of the leading characters chasing each other on a carjacking for loads of money.
Another example of the action comes in the fifth movie of the saga. In Fast Five, a bank vault is attached to the back of a car, being carried around a city where accidents became widespread. After traveling to catch a corrupt businessman, the Feds deal with the gang that stole the vault just to dodge them.
And then there’s the submarine sequel. On The Fate of the Furious, Dom turns into a bad guy, after he gets offered a deal to go back to the underworld. The whole gang joins forces to bring him to the good side, and that’s when the chases happen . . . even underwater!
Lots of Cars
And, let’s not forget the most important element in the Fast and Furious movies: Cars, lots of cars! They’re the key element connecting all the characters in the franchise and the main reason the sequels have their names.
In every movie of the Fast Saga, you’ll find a powerful fleet of muscle cars from different years, including iconic sports cars like the 1970 Dodge Charger R/T and the Ferrari 355 Spider, to more ordinary machines, such as the Volkswagen Jetta. But don’t get it wrong: all of those cars show lots of muscles and power in their engines, sure enough to make you wanna go for a wild ride.
