Boys Over Flowers is a classic K-drama based on a shoujo manga series in which a working-class girl gets tangled up in the affairs of rich students.
Geum Jan-di starts attending their prestigious private school after saving a student’s life and she begins to understand and soften the hearts of two classmates. You know, just your typical high school love triangle, but it doesn’t fail to entertain.
Some don’t know that Ku Hye-sun neither started nor stopped with this K-drama role in Boys Over Flowers. There are a bunch of shows for you to watch if you find you really enjoy her acting. From playing a legally blind woman to playing a pop star impersonator, Ku Hye-sun has starred in a wide variety of roles. Here are a few of the shows she’s in you might want to watch.
Hearts of Nineteen
Hearts of Nineteen, otherwise known as Pure in Heart, has Ku Hye-sun play the role of a simple country girl named Guk Hwa Yang. Yang is a Chinese girl who leaves her native land to get married in Korea. The only problem is, once she arrives in Korea she finds that her fiancé has passed away in a car accident.
Although it is difficult for Yang to come to grips with the situation, she decides to stay in Korea anyway to start a new life. With the help of her fiancé’s nephew and other family members, Yang is able to overcome culture shock and the day-to-day challenges of living in a foreign country.
You Are Too Much
Many K-dramas play on the trope of people from different social classes being thrown into each other’s lives, and this one is no different. This time, it’s two women of varying socioeconomic statuses that meet instead of a rich-boy-meets-poor-girl situation. Yoo Jina is a popular singer who has been revered for the past twenty years.
What the public doesn’t know is that this famous icon holds within her a deep pain. There’s an incident in her past – she abandoned something and that chips away at her as she goes about her glamorous life. The pauper in this scenario is named Jung Hae-dang and is played by Ku Hye-sun.
Hae-dang works as a Yoo Jina impersonator under the moniker of Yoo Gina in order to support her family in the midst of her father’s unemployment. Yoo Jina and Yoo Gina cross paths which, as you can imagine, creates an interesting situation. Watch the show if you want to find out whether the pop diva and average girl get along in You Are Too Much.

In the same hospital there’s a cold but secretly compassionate doctor named Park Ji Sang. Ji Sang has another secret: he’s a vampire. Ji Sang suppresses his bloodlust because he has a strong moral compass and is passionate about saving lives. He finds himself falling for Ri Ta despite her off-putting demeanor. Will one cold soul be able to melt another? Find out in Blood.
