How can you watch Ryan Reynold’s movie ‘Free Guy’ now?

Have you been trying hard to find a way to stream the highly-anticipated movie Free Guy from Ryan Reynolds? While the film may now be out in movie theaters, it is completely understandable if you don’t want to make the visit to the cinema due to the ongoing Delta variant. In this new age of a global pandemic being the new normal, many films have either been postponed to a later date or dropped straight to streaming sites. 

But what about this new action-comedy? If you haven’t yet heard of Free Guy, this movie is based on a creative story of bringing a video game simulation and players in real life together to save a video game before the original creator completely deletes the server for good. Guy, played by the iconic actor Ryan Reynolds, is the main character of the film, and is introduced as a non-player character in the open-world video game. 

Once the character of Guy becomes self-aware of who he actually is as a non-player character in the video game simulation, he jets off on a journey to try and make himself be the hero of the game before the original developers of the simulation try to wipe out the entire server. Directed by Shawn Levy and also starring Jodie Comer, Lil Rel Howery, and Taika Waititi, this film is sure to be a comedic and entertaining watch. 

So where can we watch this film? 

So now that you’re aware of what the Free Guy movie is all about, if you haven’t already known, we’re sure you must be intrigued now. After all, this movie not only stars some wonderful talents, but also promises a blend of cool science fiction mixed with some silly comedy as well as some entertaining adventure. Well now, the real question remains: where are we able to watch this movie, and when will it be available to stream at home? 

Well, like we’ve already noted, the Free Guy movie is currently available to watch in theaters. However, due to the Delta variant that has been spreading like wildfire across the world, most people do not feel comfortable going out in public spaces and potentially putting their physical health at risk. So now, this leaves us to the next question: When are people going to be able to find this cool flick on streaming sites? 

Of course, although no solidified announcements have yet to be made on when the Free Guy movie can be found on streaming services, this can usually be predicted on most occasions thanks to finding out which company owns the rights to the film. From the looks of it, the action-comedy is currently under Disney’s ownership. However, this unfortunately does not mean that Disney Plus subscribers will be the first to view this. 

So which streaming service will Free Guy be available on? 

While Free Guy remains under Disney’s ownership, it has been revealed that this is one of the only recent blockbuster films that is having a theatrical release without also making it available on streaming. Unfortunately, for those who would much rather prefer to enjoy movies from home now due to the pandemic, this may mean you’re just going to have to be a bit more patient to stream the film and wait it out for a while. 

It looks like while Disney owns the film, Free Guy will first hit HBO Max first, as the movie was still a part of Fox during their deal with WarnerMedia, which supposedly extends until the year of 2022 when it comes to exclusive HBO releases. So if you have an HBO Max subscription and have been itching to stream the Free Guy movie, it looks like you’ll have the chance to be the first to stream it once it’s made its theatrical run.
