Nostalgic Movies that Scream Childhood
Who doesn’t like to take a stroll down memory lane? We sure do. This journey at times can be super joyous and at the same time, it can also be emotional. For this, nostalgic movies play their part perfectly in reminding us of how things used to look. Those good old days remind us of the innocence of childhood. What’s more, they allow us to see the current world quite differently. Such films can be a great way for us to escape these mundane and complicated times by giving us content that oozes positive vibes.
To help you take this train to Nostalgiatown, we have put together a list of some of the best movies from our childhood. So, without much further ado, let’s get started!
Home Alone (1990)
Home Alone has continued to be a big source of entertainment for everyone. It was a major part of our childhood and to this date, the movie can take us back to all those beautiful days when we would crack up at the mischief Kevin used to get up to. The originality of the plot and its wholesomeness is enough to create a nostalgic environment.
What happens when Kevin is accidentally left alone at home while everyone in the family boards a plane during Christmas? They all forgot about him and Kevin’s wish of staying alone comes true. But it is not entirely a win-win situation considering that one of the most wanted robbers is in the area and they have their eyes on McCallister’s home.
Lucky for us, the movie is available on Disney Plus to stream in HD. However, you will be needing high-speed internet for it, just like the one offered by Xfinity since it comes with up to 1 GB of data, which is perfect for seamless streaming. If this interests you, then visit Xfinity en Español to get all the information needed regarding it, and that too in your native language.
Matilda (1996)
One of the best adaptations of Roald Dahl’s novel, Matilda gives you a perfect balance of fantasy and comedy with a touch of emotions since it touches upon one of the most serious topics. The movie explores the topic of child abuse while also maintaining it light-hearted. This children’s classic gives you all the fuzzy and cozy feelings and makes you want to go back to those times.
Our titular character is sort of an unwanted child and her parents and brother make it very clear through their actions that they do not like her. On top of it, her school principal goes out of her way to make her life miserable but here is a catch, Matilda is not an ordinary kid. She has powers of her own, which she starts to make use of after meeting a kind-hearted teacher; Miss Trunchbull.
You can watch Matilda on HBO Max, Prime Video, and Vudu to transport into the world of Roald Dahl.
Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)
An ideal blend of comedy and drama, Mrs. Doubtfire not only has an amazing storyline but also gives us an excellent performance by Robin Williams. It would not be a stretch to say that this movie tops the chart of one of the most nostalgic movies of all time. From the setting to the emotional storyline, everything about this movie makes you want to take a trip to the 90s.
Mrs. Doubtfire tells the story of a divorced struggling actor, who wants his family back. Daniel, in hopes of winning his ex-wife again, disguises himself as an elderly Scottish housekeeper to enter her house. In order to spend more time with his family, Daniel keeps up the charade until it becomes difficult for him to continue to do so.
You can watch Mrs. Doubtfire on Prime Video and STARZ.
The Little Rascals (1994)
If we could use one word to describe this movie, then it would be adorable. It is quite wholesome to watch these little ones struggling through their own shenanigans while also keeping up with the world changing around them. The Little Rascals is extremely hilarious and cute, and the fact that it shows a kid being a massive simp for a girl he has a crush on, really makes this one worth a watch.
The movie tells the story of Alfalfa and the group of his friends, who like to call themselves members of the “He-Man-Woman-Hating” club. But here is the thing, Alfalfa falls in love with a girl and keeps making efforts to impress her.
This gives you a series of events where you cannot help but laugh uncontrollably. The Little Rascals is available on Netflix and Prime Video to stream.
