Lying LiLo: All the reasons why Lindsay Lohan is the ultimate 00s queen
When most people think of Lindsay Lohan these days, they think stale cigs, mugshots, and lengthy lawsuits. However, things weren’t always this way for the red-headed bombshell, who climbed to fame after her infamous performance in 90s family favorite The Parent Trap.
Yes, while she may have fallen into the descent trap of many child actors before and after her, there was a time when Lohan was absolute chick-flick royalty, churning out performance after performance in some of the best 00s teen flicks.
Below, we take a good look back at some of the most iconic LiLo films of the 00s. Nostalgia alert!
Herbie: Fully Loaded (2005)
Ironically, Lindsay Lohan went from the “queen of the 00s” to the “queen of car crashes”. Perhaps the producers of this fantasy kid’s flick should’ve taken note of Lohan’s questionable driving skills and nipped it in the bud there and then – they could’ve saved many Herbies in the long run.
Get A Clue (2002)
Get a Clue and revisit this Disney flick about a fashion-savvy high-school student who sets out to investigate the disappearance of her teacher. Well, we mean, only revisit it if you’re into dated scenery, endless plot point cliches, and pre-school humor. If those tick your boxes, then Get A Clue is the one for you.
I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
#NeverForget the time LiLo attempted to move into the horror arena – the only thing scary about Chris Sivertson’s psychological thriller is Lohan’s performance. It’s always best to stick to what you’re good at, and in the case of Lohan, it’s chick flicks or no flicks.
Just My Luck (2006)
Ah, Just My Luck – the story about the endlessly lucky Manhattanite Ashley (Lohan) whose fortune is swapped with a down-and-out young man named Jake (Chris Pine). You don’t really need to watch this film to know what happens, but we did anyway. It’s okay, we were all teens at some point.
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen (2004)
Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen is about a plucky young girl, played by Lohan, whose aspirations to become an actress are jeopardized when her family packs up and moves to the suburbs. It’s kind of like what Lady Bird would be if Lady Bird were a piece of crap made by Disney.
Freaky Friday (2003)
A guilty pleasure that is definitely warranted, Freaky Friday sees Lohan star alongside the scream queen herself, Jamie Lee Curtis (Halloween). However, instead of tits and murder, it’s all about magic and momming.
Mean Girls (2004)
Not only is Mean Girls one of the best Lohan flicks, but it might just be at the top of the list for 00s teen flicks, period. Directed by Mark Waters (500 Days of Summer) and written by Tina Fey (30 Rock), this movie gave birth to a buttload of catchphrases still used to this day, the most infamous being: “You can’t sit with us!” It doesn’t matter how many court cases Lohan gets herself embroiled in – she will always be remembered as the world’s favorite mean girl.
