Did Julia Fox get nude with Ye to boost her profile?
Julia Fox & Kanye West were a whirlwind celebrity couple. If they actually were a couple, that is. The two were first spotted together in June 2021, and for the rest of the year, rumors swirled about the legitimacy of their romance. Even after their break-up in September, fans remained fascinated by this seemingly odd pairing.
While neither party confirmed their relationship, there were suggestions that Kanye West was using Fox as a rebound, and Julia Fox was using West to boost her celebrity profile. So who is Fox, and how did she come to be linked with West? Let’s take a closer look at their meeting, their (alleged) romance, and the way they feel about each other in 2023.
Sudden celebrity couple
Julia Fox is an actress and artist based in New York City. She’s best known for her role in the 2019 film Uncut Gems, where she played the female lead alongside Adam Sandler. In addition to acting, Fox is also a visual artist and has had her work featured in galleries around the world.
Fox and West reportedly met in 2021 when they were both staying at the Mercer Hotel in New York City. They hit it off and began spending a lot of time together, as evidenced by their respective social media posts. In July, West was seen attending one of Fox’s art exhibitions, where she showed a series of paintings that were inspired by her experience as a sex worker.
The two were spotted together on several other occasions, including at West’s album listening parties and the artist’s trip to Paris Fashion Week. In September, Fox posted a photo of herself and West on Instagram, captioning it: “We’re not happy until I’m happy.”
Breaking up is easy to do
Because Fox & West made such a spectacle out of their romance, many speculated that the two of them were simply putting on a front, and were not actually in love with one another. The speculations grew when the couple “split.” The term has quotation marks around it because they were never official, so pinpointing the start and the end of their relationship is especially tricky.
Fox talked about her time with West during an interview with Evening Standard. She spoke very highly of the rapper and designer, but felt that there were a few key traits he displayed that made them incompatible.
“I was just going day by day and seeing where it went”, she explained. “It was just like, he still wants to hang out with me today, let’s do it. And then real life set in and the lifestyle wasn’t sustainable. I couldn’t fly away once a week. And I tapped out at the first sign of a red flag.” The frankness of Fox’s comments seemingly lent credence to the fact that her time with West was a simple case of celebrities having fun.
Fox responds to West controversies
While the two seemingly parted on good terms, West has said very little about Fox since 2021. Granted, the rapper has been caught up in several controversies due to his anti-Semitic comments, so it makes sense why.
Fox, on the other hand, has become a regular on celebrity podcasts and publications, where she openly discusses West and the boost that his association gave to her career. She also disparaged him for his anti-Semitic comments.
“I just feel so bad for everyone involved, to be honest”, she told Elle magazine. “I feel bad for his family, his children. I feel bad for the Jewish people. Some of my Jewish friends are shook right now, and that … breaks my heart. I really, truly, would’ve never seen him taking this direction.”
It’s safe to assume there won’t be a rekindling of the Fox & West romance in the near future.
