Is Ioan Gruffudd an abusive husband? See the wife’s allegations
In one of the more surprising splits of 2021, Ioan Gruffudd & Alice Evans are to split after 13 years of marriage. The pair met on the set of the 2000 film 102 Dalmatians, shortly after they started dating. In 2007, the couple married during Gruffudd’s heyday of playing Dr. Reed Richards in Fantastic Four. Since then, they had two daughters together.
Needless to say, it was definitely surprising that the normally steady split. Alice Evans took to Twitter in now-deleted tweets to share how it went down. And, oh boy, it’s definitely baffling, to say the least. It also seems to show that things were definitely darker than what people would suspect for the couple.
So, the real question is, was Ioan Gruffudd actually an abusive a-hole this whole time? Here’s what Alice Evans had to say in some since-deleted tweets.
“Leave his family”
It all started when Evans took to Twitter on Monday, Jan 25. She wrote, “Sad news. My believed husband/soulmate of 20 years, Ioan Gruffudd, has announced he is to leave his family, starting next week. Me and our young daughters girls are very confused and sad. We haven’t been given a reason except that he ‘no longer loves me.’”
Now, divorce isn’t easy for everyone. But if this is the way you announce your split from your partner? That’s a dick move to start with. Also, yes, people can fall out of love, but you could give a list. Based on Evans’s tone in the tweet, it sounds like Ioan Gruffudd just sprung this on her without warning. That already is not a good look, like at all.
But then the tweet was deleted. According to Evans, she allegedly did not delete the tweet.
“Gaslit and mentally tortured”
After the tweet was deleted, Evans took to Twitter again in another deleted tweet. She wrote, “I didn’t delete the tweet from a few hours ago about him leaving. He did. From my account. And hell yes when I am being gaslit and mentally tortured then hell yes I will wash my linen in public.”
Now, here’s where things definitely get concerning with “gaslit and mentally tortured”. Based on the way Evans dropped those words, it sounds like she may have been experiencing this for a while. Naturally, this is all speculation. There have never been accusations of Gruffudd being abusive prior to Evans’s tweets. But if he was deleting her tweet from her account? It’s definitely a terrifying move.
Could Ioan Gruffudd be a mentally abusive gaslighter? When the UK’s Page Six reached for comment on the tweet, all they got was this statement: “As you can imagine, this is an incredibly difficult time for our family, and we remain committed to our children. Thank you for respecting our privacy.”
This is exactly why. And thank you.
Six months of harrassment: yes/no/maybe.
I cannot live anymore like this

So…is he an abuser?
Evans is certainly heavily implying that Ioan Gruffudd has allegedly been mentally abusive to her. When someone asked her about her “weird” tweets, a fellow Twitter user wrote, “I think it’s how one acknowledges there’s no returning to what existed before. Accepting it by stating it publicly helps you to recognize the impossibility if reconciliation.”
Evans responded, “This is exactly why. And thank you. Six months of harassment: yes/no/maybe. I cannot live anymore like this.” She added in a different tweet, “I have lost my mind.” It definitely paints a very disturbing picture of what, on the surface, looked like a happy marriage.
We’ll monitor the situation for more news. Hopefully, we get confirmation of something. One way or the other.
