Ever since the movie industry started, animal characters have been part of it. The most famous animal playing unforgettable characters in movies is the dog. Not only are they man’s best friend, but they have proven to be very professional when it comes to acting. Here are the top ten cutest dogs which have captured our hearts in the movie screen.

1. Pomeranian 

Remember the foxy-faced Gidget in The Secret Life of Pets? She happens to be an adorable white Pomeranian who is active, agile, and obedient. Pomeranians are the perfect friends for the family for its boldness and vivacity. Weighing just three to seven pounds, they can be easily trained and are good watchdogs. They can live as long as 16 years, making your life with them more colorful and blissful.

Gaining popularity is the Pomsky, which is a mixed breed between Siberian Husky and Pomeranian. Just like their relative Pomeranians, Pomskies are cute, playful, and love attention. All white Pomsky is an ideal pet, even if you live in a small apartment. 

2. Chihuahua 

Usually weighing six pounds or less, this tiny, sassy and charming dog breed has shown grace and obedience. Chihuahuas are known to love people as people love them and require very minimal grooming and exercise. They are loyal, graceful, and full of attitude, which their owners will enjoy every day with a life expectancy of 14-16 years. The most popular Chihuahua movie character is Bruiser Woods of Legally Blonde.

3. Cairn Terrier 

The Cairn Terrier is one of the oldest breeds of terrier, which originated in Scotland. Weighing only up to 14 pounds, this intelligent and alert breed of dog is known for its independence, loyalty, and cheerfulness. The Cairn Terrier is the best little paw pal you can ever get, with its short legs and ears up.

4. Pug 

Who can ever forget the extraterrestrial Frank, disguised as a Pug in Men in Black? Pugs are known to be show-offs that can make a crowd of people in a big room laugh. With its 13-inch size, this muscular dog can be your joyful companion for about 13 to 15 years. 

5. Golden Retriever 

One of the most popular dogs, Golden Retrievers are known to be intelligent, friendly, and devoted. These are precisely the characters portrayed by Buddy in Air Bud. Golden Retrievers can weigh as much as 75 pounds with a life expectancy of 10 to 12 years.

Golden Retrievers’ character and temperament make them good canines for guiding the blinds and for search and rescue. They are also great candidates for dog competitions since they are very easy to train.

6. Collie 

Collies are one of the well-loved dog breeds, like the popular movie dog icon Lassie. They are popular with children since this breed is very fond of kids, thus making collies the ideal family pets. They are very loyal. Intelligent, love attention and need regular exercise.  

Collies, which originated from Scotland, are capable of herding dogs. They gracefully grow to as tall as 26 inches and can weigh up to 75 pounds. 

7. Siberian Husky 

Siberian Huskies, known to work in packs, are reliable in pulling loads over frozen grounds. Though they grow as heavy as 60 pounds, the Siberian Huskies are known to be friendly, reliable, and amiable. 

These dogs get along well with people as well as with other dogs. They are perfect family dogs since they are clean and do not have much of an odor. One of the famous Siberian Huskies to invade the big screen is Nana from Snow Dog.

8. Beagle

Beagles have an adorable face with big brown eyes and long ears. These dogs are loving, happy, and ideal for companionship. Beagles are also funny, friendly, curious, and need plenty of time for playing and patience. Parents of beagles tend to get attached and love them quickly. Remember what happened with Daisy from John Wick, whose death brought so many complications into John’s life?

9. German Shepherd 

German Shepherds are one of the most popular breeds because of their intelligence and courage. They are the ideal dogs for the police and the military during search and rescue. They are also perfect for drug detection, guiding people with a handicap, as well as dog competition. They are known to sacrifice their lives to protect loved ones, like Sam in the movie I am Legend

10. Otterhound 

The most popular Otterhound to capture everyone’s heart in a movie was Sandy from Annie. Otterhounds were initially bred for hunting otters, as their name suggests. This playful breed of dog has strong stamina and a very keen nose, which makes them ideal for hunting. Though they can be mischievous at times, the Otterhounds are loyal and affectionate to their families. These friendly and energetic dogs can live up to 14 years.
