Viva Las Vegas: Top 5 films and TV shows featuring Baccarat

Viva Las Vegas! Enter the casino and place your bets. Let’s focus on the casino game baccarat, which originated from gambling salons in Italy and France. Recent years have seen the rise of baccarat players in the US. A statistic from Forbes states that last year, Macau’s forty casinos made more than 88% of their $33.2 billion from baccarat, clearly showing that Playtech baccarat is a challenging but clearly oft-played game.

To play baccarat, start by placing your bets on the player’s or banker’s cards. The dealer will deal two cards for the player and a further two cards for the banker. The aim of the game is to ensure your bet is on the hand that totals closest to nine

The game of baccarat is no stranger to the camera, either. There are films and television shows which show characters enjoying a game or two. Here are five films and TV shows which feature the popular casino game of baccarat.

Dr. No (1962)

We will take our game of baccarat shaken not stirred. James Bond is no stranger to the game and that is apparent. The 1962 film Dr. No shows Bond playing an old version of baccarat known as chemin-de-fer. He’s a secret agent who keeps his cool both in a casino and during a mission.

GoldenEye (1995)

Pierce Brosnan stars as James Bond in the 1995 film GoldenEye. Bond can’t get enough of this game. Even with the threat of a nuclear weapon looming, Agent 007 still has time for a game or two.

Rush Hour 3 (2007)

Hilariously called “baccarack” in this film, Carter (Chris Tucker) is seen trying to impress a woman by playing baccarat in a casino. Unfortunately, things don’t work out and Tucker loses the game. Things don’t always go to plan, even in Hollywood.

A Hard Day’s Night (1964)

A Hard Day’s Night has been regarded as one of the most iconic movies to come from the 1960s, centered as it is around one of the most famous bands in the world, The Beatles. Baccarat is featured in a scene in which a grandfather (who has a weakness for gambling) takes on the game. A lot of details are shared about baccarat: an unforgettable scene for casino lovers.

Fleming (2014) S1E2

Fleming is a TV show looking into the 007 creator, Ian Fleming, and his early life within society in war-torn WWII London. Of course the creator of Bond would enjoy a game or two of baccarat. Fleming’s game is more intense than most; he has an encounter with a Nazi officer at the baccarat table. The Nazi officer walks away with Fleming’s money. Not exactly a win for the famous author
