Wattpad and ReelShort partner to adapt fan-favorite webnovel adaptations into serialized vertical drama series
Wattpad, a leading global webnovel platform and storytelling community, has partnered with ReelShort, the leading global vertical streaming platform, to adapt three fan-favorite Wattpad stories into live-action vertical drama series. The announcement, issued from Toronto on October 15, 2026, marks the start of a collaboration that links Wattpad’s community of writers and readers with ReelShort’s global user base.
The partnership began with Emily Jean’s Just One Kiss, which premiered on ReelShort on September 27 and has already achieved top-performing status with more than 30 million views. Worth the Chase by FLEURNJARDIN is scheduled to launch on October 27, while Annica Dahl’s Taming The Playboy Boss will premiere in early 2027. The three titles were selected as fan favorites from the Wattpad platform.
David J. Lee, President of Wattpad, said: “Wattpad’s community has always thrived on storytelling that keeps readers on the edge of their seats from chapter to chapter. Partnering with ReelShort allows us to bring the stories our community loves to life in a dynamic, mobile-first visual format, giving our authors an exciting new avenue to build their fandoms and reach audiences beyond the page.”
Joey Jia, CEO of ReelShort, said: “ReelShort’s mission has always been to create a bigger market for great stories. Wattpad has built an incredible community of writers and readers and has a strong track record of discovering stories that audiences connect with. Working together gives us the opportunity to bring those stories to life in a new format and introduce them to our growing global audience. Partnerships like this allow us to expand opportunities for storytellers while continuing to grow what’s possible in the mobile-first format.”
Wattpad stories are written chapter by chapter and are naturally serialized, featuring high-stakes drama and cliffhangers that fit ReelShort’s episodic format. The collaboration gives writers a new path to reach ReelShort’s reported audience of over 75 million monthly active users around the world.
This partnership builds on Wattpad’s legacy of helping a new generation of diverse writers find success online, on bookshelves, and on screens around the world.
Fans can read Emily Jean’s original webnovel Just One Kiss on Wattpad and stream the vertical series adaptation on the ReelShort app or at ReelShort.com. The same access pattern applies to the additional titles once they premiere.
Wattpad describes itself as the largest storytelling platform in the world, where millions of readers and writers come together to discover stories, champion new voices, and fuel fandoms. The company notes that stories on the platform can grow into books, films, series, and cultural moments beyond the page, providing early proof of audience investment for publishers, studios, and producers.
