Burying the hatchet: Have Victoria Justice and Ariana Grande made up?

Fans of Nickelodeon’s Victorious are beginning to “freak the freak out” at these costars’ long-awaited make-up, as it appears that both Victoria Justice & Ariana Grande have finally made up from their long-fought drama.

So how did this celebrity feud start and why are Victoria Justice & Ariana Grande now burying the hatchet (if there ever was a hatchet to bury)? Let’s take a look.

Victorious

Created by Dan Schneider, Victorious was an American sitcom that premiered on Nickelodeon in March 2010. The show, given the producing team & network, had the same overall feel as other beloved shows such as Drake & Josh as well as iCarly

The show told the story of Tori Vega (Victoria Justice), a young aspiring performer who attends the fictional Hollywood Arts school in Los Angeles, where she befriends a talented yet goofy group of castmates as they find their way into hijinks situations.

The show ran from 2010-2013, airing four seasons as well as four special hour-long episodes.

Victorious no doubt showcased the talent of many of the show’s younger cast members, including Victoria Justice, Ariana Grande, Leon Thomas III, Elizabeth Gillies, and Avan Jogia, all of whom would move on to other projects once the show ended in 2013.

Cast drama

Even during the show’s original run, fans had speculated if there was some bad blood behind the scenes drama, given the age of the cast as well as the platform which involved both singing & acting. While Victoria Justice’s character was clearly the star of the show, many were surprised when supporting cast members such as Ariana Grande were given the chance to shine their own talents.

However, it was during a 2010 cast interview that went viral in 2017 in which cast member Elizabeth Gillies spoke on friend Grande’s singing, saying how “she sings everything, and it’s a good thing because she has a beautiful voice, but it’s awesome. She sings absolutely everything, she never stops.”

The rest of the cast seemingly agreed, with Daniella Monet, who plays Victoria Justice’s sister on the show, added how “Liz [Gillies] sings too.”

That’s when Victoria Justice jumped in and blurted: “I think we ALL sing.”

Eh, nothing cruel by any means on the part of Victoria Justice, but it did feel like she was trying to take the attention off of Ariana Grande.

It comes to a head

In 2013, when Ariana Grande was asked on Ask.FM about the show ending, Grande seemed to hold nothing back as she responded with the following:

“Sweetheart, the only reason Victorious ended is because one girl didn’t want to do it. She chose to do a solo tour instead of a cast tour. If we had done a cast tour Nickelodeon would have ordered another season of Victorious while Sam & Cat filmed simultaneously but she chose otherwise. I’m sick of this bs.”

YASS, QUEEN!

While Grande’s statement didn’t specifically call out anyone by name, I think we all know the only cast member who was on tour that summer.

Victoria Justice, assumingly catching wind of this shade, tweeted out: “Some people would throw some1 that they consider a friend under the bus just to make themselves look good #StopBeingAPhony #IfTheyOnlyKnew.”

Ding. Ding. Back to your corners, ladies.

Reunited and it feels so good

After several years of a much-needed separation, the two reunited earlier this year in March, where the entire cast of Victorious held a Zoom reunion for fans, a popular trend with beloved tv shows & movies this year.

Now, a recent Instagram post might’ve just been proven that these two have finally buried the hatchet once and for all.

Grande recently posted a short teaser for her new Sweetener tour film, where Victoria Justice commented “this is epic. Can’t wait to watch!”

Extending a possible olive branch of her own, Ariana Grande posted a simple screenshot of Victoria Justice’s new hit single titled “Treat Myself” on her own Instagram story, captioning this: “Congratulation my friend @victoriajustice. This is so so beautiful.”

Victoria Justice re-posted it onto her own story, replying “Ari, ily. Thank you.”

It appears that these two have finally called it quits on their feud if it ever even existed.

It’s amazing what happens when we escape the stupidity of our teenage years, wouldn’t you agree? Let us know if you think a feud actually existed in the comments!
