We are all eagerly anticipating 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage', but could it be the last Tom Hardy movie? Is this actor going to leave Hollywood for good?

Could actor Tom Hardy quit the movie industry?

Could Tom Hardy be the latest actor to leave Hollywood behind? The forty-three-year-old actor has said recently that he sees “less reason to work” while he is raising his children.

In a new interview the actor hinted at a possible early retirement. Hardy is currently doing publicity for his upcoming movie Venom: Let There Be Carnage

Quitting time?

Tom Hardy has suggested that at some point fans might “never see me again”. The actor has said that raising his children is more important than appearing in movies that he doesn’t really connect with. Hardy has a thirteen-year-old son with his ex-girlfriend Rachael Speed as well as a five-year-old daughter & a two-year-old son with his wife Charlotte Riley.

“I think there’s less reason to work, ultimately, because the life-drive is to be with the kids and to be fit and healthy and eat well and stuff,” Hardy said.

Hardy has said that while he avoided the concept of “growing up” he has come to realize that being with his family & being true to himself is more important. While Hardy is publicly stating that he could just walk away from his career, it doesn’t seem likely that he’ll do it any time soon.

What’s next for Hardy?

While the actor may be reassessing his priorities, that doesn’t mean that his career is going to end overnight. Hardy is said to be planning on making a third Venom movie. If the latest entry proves successful then we might end up seeing Hardy face off against Tom Holland’s Spider-Man.

The actor earned his first story credit for Let There Be Carnage so perhaps he will remain in the movie business as a writer. Hardy’s father, Chips, is a novelist, playwright, and screenwriter so maybe Tom will follow in his father’s footsteps.

If Hardy does leave Hollywood it won’t be anytime soon. He is set to star in Havoc, an action thriller from The Raid director Gareth Evans. The Netflix movie will also star Forest Whitaker, Timothy Olyphant, Justin Cornwell, and Jessie Mei Li. Hardy is also set to star in War Party, a Navy SEAL action movie directed by Ridley Scott.

Hardy has long been rumored to be reprising his role from Mad Max: Fury Road. The film, tentatively titled The Wasteland, a film that’s been trapped in development limbo for years. A lawsuit between director George Miller’s production company and Warner Bros. has surely stalled the production. A spin-off film about Charlize Theron’s character from Fury Road appears to be next for Miller.

Hardy is also attached to the Vietnam war film The Things They Carried. The adaptation of Tim O’Brien’s collection of stories also includes Tye Sheridan, Bill Skarsgard, Pete Davidson, Stephan James, Ashton Sanders, Moises Arias, and Angus Cloud.

Leaving the spotlight

Tom Hardy would not be the first acclaimed actor to walk away from the bright lights of Hollywood. Academy Award winner Gene Hackman retired from acting in the early 2000s. Hackman, now ninety-one, resides in Santa Fe, New Mexico and has written several historical fiction novels.

Daniel Day-Lewis hasn’t appeared in a movie since 2017’s The Phantom Thread. Day-Lewis has never given an exact reason for his decision to depart the movie business. He is known for his intense preparation process & method acting and he has won three Academy Awards for Best Actor.

Rick Moranis was one of the most successful actors of the 80s & early 90s. However, when his wife, costume designer Ann Belsky, passed away in 1991, Moranis left acting in order to spend more time with his two children. Moranis will make his return to live-action films with a new sequel to his classic film Honey, I Shrunk The Kids.

  • He won’t but if he does it’s likely because all he now sadly makes is crap. He doesn’t act or even attempt to anymore. Hope that changes.
