'Roudram Ranam Rudhiram' is bringing the story of Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem to life. Here's what you need to know.

Everything you need to know about Ram Charan’s newest movie

It’s not often you get to see the story of the men who helped take down the British Raj and the Nizams, India’s freedom fighters. But Roudram Ranam Rudhiram is bringing the story of Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem to life for the first time on film since their individual films in 1974 and 1990 respectively.

NTR Jr. is playing Bheem, while Ram Charan is playing Raju. While the film won’t hit theaters for nearly another year, the first poster and logo debuted on March 25th. There’s still plenty of information about the freedom fighters’ story.

Legendary director for a legendary story

S.S. Rajamouli is an acclaimed director whose filmography is full of some of the most critically acclaimed Telugu language films in India. So it’s no surprise such a legend is taking on the legends of India’s Freedom Fighters. The man was even honored in 2016 with a Padma Shri for his contributions to film in Telugu cinema.

His films have shown all over the world at a variety of film festivals, with awards from the National Film Awards, Filmfare Awards, and Nandi Awards. A period piece like this is sure to be the next critically acclaimed masterpiece for Rajamouli to add to his collection.

Charan bringing Raju to life

Best known for leading the Rampa Rebellion of 1922-1924, Alluri Sitarama Raju fought for Indian independence thanks to the new laws that completely disregarded tribal people’s lifestyles and rituals. Known as the Hero of the Jungle, it’s no surprise big name Ram Charan is portraying him.

This is not Charan’s first time teaming up with Rajamouli, as he was one of the two leads in Magadheera, which was the highest grossing Telugu film at the time of its release. One of the biggest names in Telugu cinema, it’s good to see him helping tell this historical story properly.

NTR Jr. taking on fellow fighter Bheem

Bheem, in comparison to Raju, had a much more forceful and violent approach to his protests for freedom. Fighting against the Nizam to liberate Hyderabad, Bheem lived off the land and took up arms against Nizam soldiers, fighting with them until the day he died.

NTR Jr. is royalty in Hyderabad thanks to being in a family full of legendary Telugu actors. He has a lot to owe Bheem who freed Hyderabad and gave a place for those who speak Telugu to create film in their language. The best way to honor him is to do him justice in RRR.

Another film bitten by Corona

RRR was supposed to have a May 2020 release. But at the beginning of February, with everything going on with the Coronavirus, the film was postponed to January 8th, 2021. To help hold people over thanks to the delayed release, DVV Entertainment dropped the poster and motion poster on March 24th to give people a tease of what’s to come.
