Raye wins Mercury Prize

According to Variety, the 2026 Mercury Prize has been awarded to singer-songwriter Raye, a Variety Hitmakers 2024 honoree, for her epic second studio album “This Music May Contain Hope.”

She beat out Olivia Dean, Paul McCartney and others for the prize, which has no real equivalent in the U.S. and is intended to recognize music from the U.K.
