Is Nicole Kidman’s ‘Nine Perfect Strangers’ the new ‘Big Little Lies’?
Hulu has confirmed a straight-to-series order for Nine Perfect Strangers, based on Big Little Lies author Liane Moriarty’s latest book. The series reunites a large chunk of the team behind the HBO adaptation of Big Little Lies—David E. Kelley and John Henry Butterworth will be co-writing the series, while Nicole Kidman and Bruna Papandrea are executive producing.
The series is set to stream on Hulu—tentatively—by the end of 2020, but here’s what we know about Nine Perfect Strangers thus far.
What is the plot of Nine Perfect Strangers?
Nine Perfect Strangers follows nine Australians who converge on a ‘boutique’ health and wellness resort called Tranquillum House, all looking to change their lives in some way. Kidman will play the resort’s director Masha, a domineering guru on a mission to heal the lives of the spa-goers. However, these nine ‘perfect’ strangers have no idea what’s in tow for them.
The synopsis of the Nine Perfect Strangers appears vague at this time, but fans of Big Little Lies are certain to fall into a web of intrigue upon the show’s release.
Who is set to star in Nine Perfect Strangers?
As of right now only Nicole Kidman is set to play Masha. No other casting details have been released and it’s not yet known who’ll be taking on the roles of the other characters, including romance novelist Francis who is the book’s protagonist.
Is there a trailer for Nine Perfect Strangers?
Not yet—details on production are scarce. It’s also unclear whether the season’s episodes will drop all at once, or release week by week, as Hulu has had shows do both.
Nine Perfect Strangers is expected to debut on Hulu in late 2020.
