Push your Hulu to the max: How to get HBO, Showtime, and more
Paying a hefty cable bill each month just so you can access a single channel for your favorite shows like HBO’s Euphoria or Showtime’s Shameless, is now a thing of the past. Streaming services are quickly becoming the superior method of television binging and it’s easy to understand why!
Hulu allows you to pick and choose your favorite networks and subscribe to them all on one platform. Hulu has plenty to offer and we’re here to help you navigate through it!
Hulu’s Add-ons
Hulu offers four different cable networks that you can add to your Hulu account. Each has their own subscription prices that will be added to your monthly Hulu bill. Although each network has their own streaming service, Hulu add-ons help organize all your subscriptions in one app.
Hulu’s premium channels include HBO Max, Showtime, Cinemax, and STARZ. Here are the monthly subscription costs for each network:
- HBO Max: $14.99/month
- Showtime: $10.99/month
- Cinemax: $9.99/month
- STARZ: $8.99/month
Each channel offers their own seven-day free trial, so you can try out each premium network for free! Also, students always get discounted subscription prices!
What you get with Hulu add-ons
Not only can you access your favorite network’s original shows but also their entire movie & TV library. Go ahead and rewatch Game of Thrones from the very first episode while also having access to HBO’s movie library including new releases and film classics!
Hulu + Live TV
If you’re still missing live television, Hulu offers access to plenty of channels including ESPN, CNN, Disney Channel, HGTV, CBS, and over fifty more! You can now officially cut your cable cord and switch entirely to streaming.
The basic subscription of Hulu + Live TV costs $64.99 per month. This version will have commercial breaks. However, if you’re looking for a life of luxury (no commercials), you can purchase Hulu’s priciest plan Hulu + Live TV with no ads. This is gonna run for $70.99. This may seem expensive but we’re guessing that this price is still cheaper than your monthly cable bill.
Enhanced Cloud DVR
Hulu + Live TV comes with 50 hours of free DVR storage so you can record your favorite live television shows. However, if that just isn’t gonna cut it you may want to upgrade to Hulu’s Enhanced Cloud DVR which allows for 200 hours of DVR storage.
This add-on also allows you to fast forward through commercial breaks in your recorded programs. The Enhanced Cloud DVR add-on costs $9.99 per month.
Unlimited Screens
Hulu + Live TV subscribers are also able to access Hulu’s Unlimited Screens add-on. Hulu lets subscribers have the ability to stream on two separate screens at once. If you have a big family or too many bum friends stealing your password, then you know that two screens isn’t enough.
The Unlimited Screens add-on allows you to stream on any amount of devices that are connected to your home network and up to three devices on the go! This add-on costs an additional $9.99 per month.
Unfortunately, even with this add-on you can’t stream premium content from networks like HBO, Showtime, Cinemax, and STARZ on more than five screens at once. This add-on is primarily beneficial for Live TV subscribers.
