Caroline Binnall Seeks to Write New Chapter in Brantley Davis Ad Agency Legacy
Binnall, Davis’ Daughter, Joins BDAA as Senior Public Affairs Manager
Caroline Binnall has joined Brantley Davis Ad Agency (BDAA) as Senior Public Affairs Manager. Following in the footsteps of her grandfather and father, she is the third generation to work for a Davis founded ad agency, carrying on the family legacy.
“I’m thrilled to work with such a talented team of seasoned marketing professionals,” commented Caroline Binnall. “From changing the balance of the US Senate to driving record revenue for the nation’s leading law firms, the BDAA team has done it all with aplomb.”
Before joining BDAA, Caroline worked extensively in politics and journalism. Most recently, she spent several years on Capitol Hill, drafting legislation and assisting with communications for a member of Congress. She is poised to contribute her experience in public affairs to issue advocacy groups at BDAA.
Caroline is also a published, award-winning writer. She looks forward to bringing her creativity to law firm marketing, BDAA’s specialty.
“My grandfather and father inspired my passion for writing, filmmaking, and even jingles. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had their ad jingles ringing in my head,” Caroline recalled. “It’ll be fun to write my own and pass the brain-worm along myself.”
The family advertising tradition started with Caroline’s grandfather, Jerry Davis, who marketed cigarettes for RJ Reynolds Tobacco in the 1960s. He later became an expert in bank marketing, working for Cargill Wilson & Acree in Charlotte, North Carolina during the agency industry’s creative revolution. Lawler Ballard Little in Norfolk, Virginia, noticed Jerry’s innovative mind and recruited him to run their statewide bank business before promoting him to general manager. Shortly after, Jerry founded his own advertising agency in 1976, subsequently hiring Caroline’s father, Brantley Davis, in the 1990s. Together, they grew the agency into a regional power.
“Caroline is blessed with a rare ability to write beautiful, pithy prose. It fills me with joy to know she will carry on our family tradition of smart copy seasoned with spicy twists,” Jerry Davis noted.
Brantley Davis founded his eponymous advertising agency after spending 30 years as Executive Vice President of his father’s ad agency. BDAA specializes in law firm and issue advocacy marketing and has received much acclaim for their work. Over the years, BDAA’s principals have introduced marketing tactics that have changed law firm marketing, including 15 second bookend spots, competitive frequency benchmarking, and creative hooks like “What’s Your Case Worth?”
“I’m very fortunate to have a father who showed me that owning your own business is not only possible but preferable; a father that cultivated a deep appreciation for snappy copy, gorgeous production values and pushing the creative envelope; a father with a brilliant marketing mind who also happens to look like Don Draper and be even more fun,” reflected Brantley Davis with a smile spreading across his face. “I hope I’ve instilled the same passion for business, marketing and inspired copy in Caroline. The bar is high but it looks like she’s poised to clear it and then some. Caroline also has a gorgeous eight month old little girl, Blair, who is quite precocious. Could be our next copywriter!”
