Here’s why everyone is obsessed with Betty Gilpin from ‘The Hunt’

Some of you might have heard of the green-eyed blonde named Betty Gilpin. She’s best known for her supporting role as Debbie “Liberty Belle” Eagan in the popular Netflix show Glow, or more recently for her leading part in the thriller-satire movie called The Hunt

Gilpin has been showing what she’s made of in her roles as powerful women, and she may be the next up-and-coming female star. Get ready to read what’s all the rage with this robust babe.

Betty Gilpin’s early life & career

Elizabeth Folan Gilpin, better known as Betty Gilpin, was born in New York City. She is the daughter of actors Jack Gilpin and Ann McDonough. She grew up in the Manhattan neighborhood of South Street Seaport in a house she described as “one of the only occupied buildings on the block.”

Gilpin graduated from a Connecticut boarding school called The Loomis Chaffee School and then went on to study at Fordham University. Her mentor in the university was two-time award-winning actress Dianne Wiest. Gilpin then graduated in 2008 and went on to guest star and play supporting parts in numerous TV series, including various seasons of Law & Order and the 2008 movie Ghost Town.

Gilpin’s acting career was kickstarted in 2013 when she starred as Dr. Carrie Roman in the comedy-drama show Nurse Jackie. She quickly went on to star in movies such as Take Care (2014), True Story (2015) and Future ‘38 (2017). Gilpin has also starred in broadway productions such as Heartless and We Live Here, but Gilpin made real headway in her acting career when she played as Liberty Belle in the show Glow

Betty Gilpin was discouraged from acting

Did you know that Gilpin and her parents have a somewhat tenuous relationship when it comes to her career? Gilpin’s parents were at odds with her dream to become an actress, despite being actors themselves. They strongly encouraged her to study something else in addition to acting.

During an interview at the Emmys in 2018, Gilpin confessed “My parents encouraged me to not be an actor. They weren’t very supportive.” She even went as far as to say they most likely weren’t watching the Emmys that evening, even though she had been nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series.

Is Betty Gilpin married?

Sorry, boys. Gilpin is taken. She is married to an actor and assistant director named Cosmo Pfeil. They had been together for almost seven years when they got married in 2016. Gilpin and Pfeil actually met in Gilpin’s first movie, a film called The Northern Kingdom, and played complementary parts together as siblings.

Gilpin said in an interview with Interview Magazine that she was very close to not even trying out for that part: “I just came with [my parents] and put my name on the sign-in sheet, which I would never have the confidence to do—it’s the confidence of a stoner. I auditioned and got the part.” She might never have met her hubby if she didn’t take that leap of faith. How romantic.

What’s Betty Gilpin up to now?

Gilpin has been cast in Ryan Murphy’s American Crime Story. The third season of this FX limited series will be about the Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky sex scandal and Gilpin will be playing Ann Coulter. The show is set to premiere in either late 2020 or early 2021. We can’t wait to see the result of her hard work!
