International Women’s Day is just around the corner (tomorrow, to be exact), and to mark the occasion, Netflix is dedicating the entire month to the women of TV & Film, offering a diverse collection of empowering & inspiring content to celebrate female-focused storytelling. So turn on the TV and get ready for some bingewatching, because for this International Women’s Day the females are Netflix ‘n’ Killin’ it.

Girls Incarcerated (March 2)

There are countless docuseries highlighting America’s “broken” prison system, but Girls Incarcerated offers a new angle, focusing on the harsh reality of being a girl in a juvenile delinquent institution. Girls Incarcerated is an emotional rollercoaster of a bingewatch, but one that will open your eyes to a system gone wrong.

Ladies First (March 8)

Get ready to feel hella inspired, because this short documentary tells the story of Deepika Kumari – a girl born on the roadside to abject poverty in rural India who went on to become the #1 archer in the world. You get to see Deepika’s epic journey from rural India to Rio de Janeiro, in which she fights to the top as the first Indian woman to win an Olympic Gold Medal.

Collateral (March 9)

Coming to Netflix the day after International Women’s Day is this British limited series starring Carey Mulligan (All the Money in the World) as a detective investigating a seemingly random murder. However, what she uncovers is a tangled conspiracy involving drug dealers, smugglers, and spies. Definite edge-of-your-set bingewatch material.

Love (March 9)

Another one to hit our screens the day after is this dramedy series from creators Judd Apatow (The Big Sick) & Lesley Arfin (Girls). Starring Gillian Jacobs (Community) & Paul Rust (I Love You, Beth Cooper) as a couple of thirtysomethings attempting to navigate their way through love, addiction, and all the things that suck about growing up, season three looks set to wrap up their relationship. The question is, will they make it through and finally give their partnership a real shot? Tune in to find out!

Jessica Jones (March 8)

Our favorite reluctant superhero is back for a second season, kicking, screaming, and drinking her way through the private eye cases that she never asked for. Following on from her bustup with Kilgrave (David Tennant), Jessica – played by the glorious Krysten Ritter – is back to uncover a series of unanswered questions about her past.

My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman (March 9)

Following in the footsteps of former President Barack Obama & George Clooney (The Descendants), Malala Yousafzai – activist and the youngest ever Nobel Prize laureate – will join David Letterman as the latest interviewee on his six-episode Netflix talk show My Next Guest Needs No Introduction.

Roxanne Roxanne (March 23)

Roxanne Roxanne – the Lolita “Roxanne Shanté” Gooden biopic that premiered at Sundance last year – is hitting Netflix on March 23. Set in Queens during the 80s, Michael J. Larnell charts the rise of the real-life teenage rap prodigy, offering the inspiring story of a hip-hop legend in the making.

First Match (March 30)

Written & directed by Olivia Newman, First Match is an emotional & empowering story of a teenage girl from Brooklyn who decides the only way to get back to her estranged dad is through wrestling boys. As you can imagine, by doing so Monique (Elvire Emanuelle) causes quite the stir – but is it more trouble than she’s prepared to handle?

Alexa & Katie (March 23)

Created by Heather Wordham, with comedy veteran Matthew Carlson serving as showrunner, Alexa & Katie (Paris Berelc & Isabel May) tells the story of two lifelong best friends Alexa and Katie, who are eagerly anticipating the start of their freshman year of high school. However, a massive spanner is thrown into the works when Alexa finds out she’s got cancer, proving there are some things even more complicated & heartwrenching than trying to navigate through kidulthood.  

Santa Clarita Diet (March 23)

Season two of Netflix’s most gory / funny sitcoms is back, bringing us more flesh-eating antics from undead wife Sheila (Drew Barrymore) and nervous husband Joel (Timothy Olyphant). Mark your bing diaries for March 23, because it looks like we’re getting a delicious helping of incredible content, folks. Ready for seconds?
